Although the hardest thing in the world for me to do is hold a grudge...
Picard has hurt my friends Liquid Velcro!, Trixter, and Skyflight (especially
Skyflight nowadays) in so many ways, befriending Pic again without some
amends would be turning traitor on the people who *did* stick by me.
And that's a long sentence.

I just read all the posts dumping on Raksha for her being disappointed with
Tut's essay and possibly ending a friendship over it. One of the main posts
slagging her was by Walky. Now I've dumped friends over opinions before and I
can understand Raksha's point of view enough not to point any fingers at her
over this whether or not I would have done the same thing. So Walky, how is
this different? You talk about being friends with people from drastically
different world views from yours like everyone should get along in your other
post and then make a reference to this dispute and how you had/have no choice.
I don't know anything about this feud and I don't want to know. But I think
it's unfair to pick on others for doing actions you yourself do.
I'm not going for a flamefest here but I couldn't stand by and see this
without commenting. So if anyone wants to flame me, I'll take it and not
complain. I just ask that you not clutter up the newsgroup with it but use email.
As a sidenote: Walky, you *do* have my sympathy, it's hard going through that
kind of a situation.

A fair question, really. And it's going to be *really* hard trying to exlain
this without telling you any more about this "feud" and wasting bandwidth on
this tiny little war. Not to mention Pic an' Hydra will probably reply and
deny it, and I'll reply and deny their denials and it'll go back and forth
and spread and everyone will be *less* friends with each other. :P
For the longest time on #TFU I was the person who kept the channel together.
There was always terrible arguments that popped up between various people
here and there, but I was usually able to simmer them, for reasons unknown
to me. In fact, the worst fights usually happened while I was gone from IRC.
Now, this is a job one does *not* want to take. It's hard enough keeping
several groups of friends at each others' necks. It's even worse when they
start actively trying to remove people on the other group and making false
claims about them on the way.
Finally, after coming home one night and finding Liquid Velcro had left #tfu
after learning that Pic and Hydra were conspiring to deop him, I had enough.
The stupid little wars had cost me enough sanity. Trix, LV, and I left #tfu
to the rest of them to do as they wish, and we went to SkyJammer's channel
#cmtf. (I'm going to add that before I did this, I thought it'd be better
just to auto-kick the conspirers instead of leave, since it *was* technically
Trix and I's channel to begin with. But that was a bad choice and a terrible
mistake, and we soon left after that.)
Now it's SkyJammer who's suffering the most. Being the founder of #cmtf,
he's had to deal with an almost constant barrage of flames from the people
of #tfu for fraternizing with us. People come and change the topic to
"LV is a cock. Thank you and goodnight." Hydra pretends to be Trixter and
then kicks everyone. And it's doing hell to SkyJ here. And for his sake,
I can't return to the people that hurt my friends the most.
Raksha, from what I understand from my extremely limited point of view,
no longer considers Tut a friend merely based on whether she thinks a
cartoon character is sentient or not. If there's more to it than that,
I'll retract my statement and apologize accordingly.

Well, I'm not going to speak for Raksha. I don't know why she included that
line in her essay but, on the other hand, I think she has the right to
dissolve friendships for any reason she wants without having to explain to us
in depth why. I appreciate your taking the time to explain why you feel your
case is different. I'll admit here too that a lot of people have "issues"
with Raksha and feel compelled to criticize her at any opportunity; likewise I
often feel compelled to speak in her defence when I think I see that
occurring. From all this posting, though, I think it's obvious that there is
always much more to these stories than meets the eye and no one (including me)
should jump to any conclusions. We tend to forget not everything happens in
plain view on a.t.t. Relationships and friendships are made and broken away
from the newsgroup. We only see the tip of the iceberg.

I was just expecting to get flamed for comparing the two situations so I
didn't want to waste a.t.t.'s time with "Grrrlgoyle, you idiot, how can you
compare the two?" I'm glad you made your reply to the newsgroup, in spite of
the further "accusations and denials" it might cause. I am sorry I asked that
you explain it again since obviously people are trying to not bring it up. I
apologize for that.

If you claim to be so intent on peace keeping, Walky, then why in the world are
you posting this here? What does this conflict have to do with ATT? Do I seem
to recall you posting this very same story not too long ago on ATT? I agree
with Hooks in this instance, which is to say that NOT everyone from #tfu hates
everyone from #cmtf. I admit to disliking LV profoundly, and I won't dare rake
such public muck as to what the reasons are. I will however say that not only
have I discussed things with Trixter since, I met with her *personally* last
weekend mainly in order to discuss channel relations, and not only did we do
this, but we also went transformer hunting without any subtext of conflict.
One of Trixter's main points was that she did NOT think this should be a
public issue, and I was entirely compelled to agree with her. We've both had
our differences, we've established ourselves separately, and now we live with
ourselves. This agreed, the question is WHY do you have to dig into this once
again? I regret having to respond to this, and I deny nothing said as there are
things I too would like to put behind me, but I am *compelled* to defend myself
if I'm gong to be the subject of unprovoked muckraking.

So who cares? This was a choice made by LV alone, Picard and I were completely
free to feel any way we liked about LV, but he was the op and the decision was
made at his hands, not with him being "evicted", as some have put it, or any
other such lunacy...

I and others maintained from the start that that was an unfair decision, and
I'm glad you agree on that count, at least partially. Much has happened since
then, however and I would be happy if I could never hear about this tired issue
again. While I may compromise my dignity by responding, many others observe and
wonder why you feel the need to resurrect this conflict when no-one else wants
to. Let's stop this.

Yes, and many would-be users of #tfu have been compelled not to enter the
chnnel by one-sided arguments from some of those at #cmtf. This is obviously a
separate issue from the details of the initial split, and i presonally wish
that the two channel coudl ignore each other entirely, but sadly this seems far
from occuring...

I have to correct you on one thing in the impersonation prank. I do admit that
that was me, and I wish I could avoid assosciation witht that considering it
was certainly not me as I'd liek to be thought of. I've obviously adopted
different policies since then as Trixter herself might tell you, so just as
you, Walky might not want to be remembered for the Kick-Ban incident which you
as an op played a part in, I hope that this prank can be overturned.
As to the correction, I did not "kick everyone", I kicked LV. Along with the
malicious message you quoted which I have no knowledge of, a pattern is

Need to make a correction here. It was NOT Pic and Hydra "conspiring"
against LV. The WHOLE FRIGGIN CHANNEL was involved with a discussion on LV's
hatefulness particularly toward Hoop that night because of a small
disagreement over events in a fanfic. Blame can NOT be placed on one or two
people here. If you're going to blame anyone blame LV for starting the
argument with Hoop in the first place.

If you were going to do that then you should have just banned the whole damn

Well perhaps if you didn't blame them for everything then there wouldn't be a
problem. It's my fault just as much as theirs as well as everyone else that

Alright dude. I've tried to stay out of this whole stupid ugly thing as long
as possible and keep it off the newsgroup where it doesn't belong. But I'm
just sick and tired about hearing all this shit about how it's Pic and
Hydra's fault for the whole damn thing. I was THERE that night. I KNOW what
happened. The whole thing started that night when LV unnecessarily ripped on
Hoop's fanfic. Then he left to talk to Trix on the phone leaving everyone to
stew in anger. So if anything it was LV's fault the whole thing started. As
for the drive to get him deoped, pretty much EVERYONE was in on it. EVERYONE
was fed up with LV's unnecessary bullshit as evidenced by the way he talked
about Hoop's fanfic.

Anyone on AOL can impersonate another AOL user on IRC. All one needs to do is
replace their username with another person's and there you have it. It's not
hard.

Walky was not only courteous enough to apologize about the banning of Picard
and I from #tfu, but he even came into #tfu *personally* the following day to
apologize fo rthis unnecessary dredging of old issues. It's really nice to see

I would not have made the slander comment were this not the case, and I still

Say what? There are still plenty of people around that were there back in
April. #tfu has not gone to hell either. #tfu has done very well these past 5
months. There have been times when we've had over 20 people in there at one
time and it's been lots of fun. Sure there are times when it seems like
nothings happening but I'm sure every channel gets that way. We've even gained
some really cool new people that weren't around 5 months ago either. Just
because you don't have a good time there anymore doesn't mean the channel's gone
to hell. Maybe an ocasional trip to limbo but we've never been to hell.

Yeesh, you would really know what goes on in #tfu, considering that you
haven't been in there for the last few weeks, right? All you did when you
were in #tfu was constantly moan about how you were too shy to ask out that
girl who lived next door to you or make snippy comments towards others. And
now you're kissing up to the #cmtf gang, when it was your baiting and
unpleasantness that got you banned from there in the first place. Despite
the fact that I don't like those guys, I could certainly understand why they
did that to you. You've really got a thing for making enemies, don't you?
(BTW: #tfu has been doing quite well lately, getting at least 10+ people
during the evenings and on some nights, as many as 20)
