I left no stone unturned. I either faxed. Or emailed. Or sent a registered
letter to everybody that I could think of. Concerning health issues.
I wrote to the administration of the JGH. I wrote to the Medical Ethics
Committee of the same hospital. I wrote to the Canadian Medical Association.
I wrote to the Minister of Health of Canada. And last but not least. I wrote
to the Prime Minister of Canada - Jean Chretien.
I have never in my life. To have known. That a doctor who SWEARS under oath.
To give a patient the BEST care that you can give that patient.
Could withhold treatment on that patient. Without giving that patient an
explanation as to why. I am appalled by this attitude.
Guys I am not doing very well. To say the least. But I AM hanging in there.
And I guess that's all I can do. And of course pray. It is 'now' in God's
hands.
Take care,
Dawn
If you have done nothing but try your best to help, not only yourself but
also all the other people that will come after you, then you have done
something worth wild....
I think can I speak for everyone that know you....We admire your courage to
withstand all the wrongs, your dedication to want to make it better, and
your compassion to still want to help anyone in need of your support.
Thank you for making want to be a better person.....

Dear Dawn,
You have written to so many people, but have you written to the
Dr concerned yet? This is an important thing to do as you need
pain relief. If he does not want to treat you then you must ask
him to pass you onto someone else who can be more positive
about your care. This would be a reasonable request, but he
won't do it automatically.
If you write to him, express your feelings and ask your questions,
you will give him an opportunity to respond, "human being to human
being".
Your anger is unbelievably destructive for you, your Dr's, their families,
their other patients and anyone given insecurity by your awful
experience :o( I am not saying that it's undeserved, but there comes
a point when your psychological well-being has to be paramount. What's
happening now is more harmful than any physical illness on Earth.
You need to rest, peace and to get some of the essence of
life back Dawn.
Carol
Hi Carol,
The doctor was the first one I asked for painkillers. I had posted that. I
think you forgot. He had said that he didn't want me taking too much of that
stuff. Well I have cancer among other things. For God sake. I was given
demerol in the hospital. Codeine before I went in the hospital. And now
aspirin.
And as to me having another doctor. It's funny you should mention that.
Because I had asked the CLSC last week for a homecare doctor. And was
refused. And I have already had SEVERAL homecare doctors before. From the
CLSC. So it's not something new. And my condition was better than now. And
this morning I put it in writing. Please scroll down. I will
cut and paste what I asked for. I'm still waiting for a reply.
And Carol. If I seem angry. It's because my time is running out. And I don't
know how to be happy about that. Anyway here is my letter to the CLSC.
Take care,
Dawn

Hello Joanne Dube,
My name is Dawn Jenkins. You already know me from the home care program. I
had
requested a home care doctor because of the deterioration of my health. And
I
had also requested to have copies of my dossier.
You are very aware as is Paulette Payant. My nurse at the time. Of my health
issues where nothing is
being done for it. My GP is Dr. Malus. And I refuse to sit back and die.
This is MY life. And *I have the right to make my OWN decision. On what
treatment I should be undergoing. It is MY right and ONLY my right.
I am requesting for the LAST time. That I WANT a home care doctor. I WANT
treatment to save my life. And I WANT copies of my dossier. I AM entitled to
all
three. And for the record. My dossier # is 22159. And if YOU are not
responsible
for requests of copies of my dossier. Then please forward this letter to
whoever
is.
I am also fully aware that the CLSC Cote des Neiges is affiliated with the
JGH.
So you are FULLY aware of what's been going on with my health situation. And
you
were also faxed a report of my hospital stay from April 22, 1999 to April
29,
1999.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Sincerely,
Dawn Jenkins
