Les gaitas sont faite d'un tube en cactus surmonté d'une tête faite d'un
mélange de cire d'abeilles et de cendres végétales où s'enchasse une plume
d'oiseau pour permettre d'insuffler l'air.
La gaita femelle (gaita hembra) comprend 5 trous et on y joue les mélodies.
La gaita mâle (gaita macho) et les maracas accompagnent tous deux la
mélodie jouée par la gaita femelle.La gaita mâle comprend un à deux trous;
el machero secoue ses grandes maracas, enrichissant le jeu et le rendant
plus complex.
Le grand tambour ou le tambour joyeux est fait dans un tronc évidé. Sa plus
grande extrémité est couverte avec la peau d'une jeune chèvre tendue par un
entrelassage de corde. Sa fonction est de créer l'émotion et le rythme.
Le tambour "llamador" est un tambour plus petit . La tambora est fait d'un
tronc creux couvert de peaux à ses deux extrémités, celles-ci étant tendues
par des cordes. Il est joué avec deux bâtons et sa fonction est de donner au
groupe sa base rythmique.
