Jayson stood at ease when instructed to by Admiral von Mainzel. He listened attentively as he was told of his billeting assignment. He glanced at the Ensign on his left hand side, who was also being assigned. His attention returned as the Admiral paused his speech for a moment to see if he had any questions.
"No, sir." he replied.
When the Admiral had finished assigning him to Holodeck 12, under the supervision of RADM Nightear to-Imaiai, he nodded his acknowledgement.
"Yes, sir." he said. "Thank you, sir."
Jayson then turned and exited the Oval Office.

Scene : Trainee's Quarters, ALB
Jayson sat on the edge of his bunk, pondering the last transmission he had received from his parents wishing him well on his assignment. He missed them both terribly, but deep in his heart he know he was ready to begin another chapter of his life away from them. But, their influence guided him. He stretched out on his bunk, hands behind his head. It would be difficult to gauge what surprises Holodeck 12 would reveal in the morning, but as he drifted off to sleep, he ran many scenarios he had already faced through his mind once more. When he could stay awake no longer, he rolled onto his side and yawned.
"Lights." he stated sleepily. As soon as his quarters went dark, he was fast asleep, dreaming of his next adventure.

Scene : Outside HD12, ALB
For a change, it momentarily appeared that Jayson was going to be early to his first training assignment aboard ALB. However, a slight incident with his food synthesizer first thing in the morning had put him a bit behind schedule. He dashed from the turbolift, apologizing to the two medical technicians he rudely bumped into as he scrambled through the door. Fortunately he did not see the looks upon their faces as raced past them. He just had to smile. He definitely was making some good first impressions here on ALB.
Despite the series of delays, he checked on his time and found himself standing in front of the door to Holodeck 12 with exactly one micron to spare.
He turned his head to look down he corridor. He noticed the Ensign, who was billeted with him by Admiral von Mainzel, approaching him.
"Good morning." he announced toward the approaching Ensign. He smiled and began to brush the crumbs from his uniform and assessing the coffee stains in various locations.

SF Academy Commendations:
Jayson was commended for his leadership on the Forensic and Debate
team. In his final year at Star Fleet Academy, his team won all 16 scheduled
debates, including two highly competitive and publicized meets against
the Vulcan Science Academy. In the history of Star Fleet, the Academy had
only managed to draw even with the team from Vulcan. Jayson's team managed
to not only win both events, but won them so convincingly, that he (and
the others) warranted the admiration of the Vulcan dignitaries that were
in attendence at the competition.
SF Academy Reprimands:
Jayson was reprimanded for disobeying a direct order and conduct
unbecoming an officer. During a routine training excercise to determine if cadets
could follow basic military orders, Jayson deliberately disobeyed a
superior officer's order. Jayson's argument, in his defense, was that
there were more options than the one chosen by the officer in charge. The
officer, however, did not wish to consider these options and ordered Jayson and the
others to follow his direct command. The end result of Jayson's disobediance
lead to the unit's complete failure during the exercise. It was a valuable
lesson that Jayson learned that day and one he has never forgotten.

Jayson was born into a family of diplomats, educators, and
administrators. His father, Sean Matthew Logan, was a chief administrator in the
Diplomatic Corps. of the UFP. His mother, Aileen Thorton-Logan was an associate
professor of philosophy at DePaul University. Both his parents retired
at an early age and now pursue philanthropic endeavors.
In his early years, Jayson loved to listen to his father talk about
his work. His father would often stress to his children to be both, strong
in mind, and relaxed in thought. The only way to negotiate or arbitrate
anything in life, was to listen first and speak later.
Jayson grew up somewhat priviledged. His family however, instilled
"working class" values on him despite their affluent and influential lifestyle.
At birthdays, he received books instead of toys and quickly became an
avid reader of all types of literature. Jayson was home schooled by his
mother until he reached the age of nine. At nine, he was able to attend the
prestigious St. Stephens Academy, the same school, 5 generations of
Logans had attended.
His years at St. Stephens proved pivitol in shaping his mindset for the
future. He joined the forensics team and learned how to use words and
arguments quite constructively. While attending the Norwood School, he
finally captained the school's prestigious debate team and won many
competitions. He eventually lead them to the school's first ever
international championship. His strength in a debate forum, was not so
much his oratory skills, but in his research. His defense of a position was
often supported with both facts and an aggressive demeanor. He would
not back down from any discussion, even one where hs position was suspect,
as long as he had the facts to support his argument. When Jayson entered Starfleet Academy, he was back at square one. He was forced to work his way back into the activities that he loved so much.
He did not want any preferential treatment based on his past
accomplishments. He, like his family, expected himself to earn whatever he could. Strongly influenced by his family's history, Jayson inevitably followed the same path as his father and older brothers. He kept solid grades and his nose clean. Though he was a bit headstrong when he first entered the academy, it took an ugly incident in his first year to finally bring him back down to reality. His close friends and family were the only ones to notice this change in his personality.
