Current analysis by MSNBC, as discussed on
last night's "Hardball With Chris Matthews"
(September 7, 2008):
- - -
Obama/Biden ... 228 electoral votes, among
the states decidedly in this camp, Washington,
Oregon, California, Illinois, New York, Maine,
Vermont, Maryland, Connecticut, Delaware,
New Jersey, Hawaii, D.C. Leaning Obama's
way -- Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Iowa.
- - -
McCain/Palin ... 200 electoral votes, among
the states decidedly in this camp, Arizona, Utah,
Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma,
Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Ala-
bama, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia,
South Carolina. Leaning McCain's way -- Mis-
souri, Georgia, North Carolina, Indiana, South
Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Alaska.
- - -
Tossup States ... Nevada, New Mexico, Col-
orado, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Virginia,
Florida, New Hampshire.

I seriously doubt Michigan and Wisconsin are tossups. Not with the
economy the way it is.
Nevada. The nuclear waste issue (Yucca mountain) is huge here.
Obama.
New Mexico. That's why I was in favor of Richardson on the ticket:
he could have brought in New Mexico and Colorado. Still I think New
Mexico goes to Obama.
Colorado. Have no idea.
Virginia. Probably stays red.
Florida. Probably stays red.
New Hampshire. I spent most of the last seven falls up there; no
telling what those people will do.
Ohio. It's the economy, stupid. Obama needs to hammer CAFTA. He
does that successfully, he gets Ohio.
Those people in solid red and blue states like Texas and New York are
damn lucky.
Meanwhile, Canada announced new elections. They just started and it
will be over before ours.
