My share of tomorrow's feast is complete and stashed.

From now on it's just, kick back, coast and have fun.
My kinda holiday.

Hope the weather isn't too ugly for those who have to drive here.

Gonna be a lot of grub.
Maybe we should invite a few hungry homeless folks.

So, I got this pecan pie frozen in the fridge. We meet at 3:00pm and will
probably eat the pie around 4:00pm. When should I take it out of the
freezer to thaw properly? Tonight before I go to bed, put it down below in
the fridge and take it out in the morning to thaw on the counter?

I remember once as a teenager we took a frozen peach pie and it in the oven
and four hours later it was still cold as a igloo...

For goodness sake Tim.
Put it on the counter tonight.
It's not going to rot in less than twenty four hours.

Have you ever HAD frozen pecan pie?
Sounds like a powerful risk to take on a big day, and they're so easy to
make.
Next time just whip one up yoseff,

Christmas tree is up. Ham is in the oven. Oyster cracker snack is
finished. Pecans are roasting as I write this, will be candied pecan in a
little while. Turkey is thawing in the refrigerator. They had better clean
their plates, that's all I can say. Almost time for a beer.

I remember when my wife baked a double-wrapped ham with the inner plastic
wrapping still in place. Two hours later the house smelled like burning
plastic. Not even the dog would eat it.

Thank you, Ma. I'm not allowed to make these difficult domestic decisions,
so I didn't know. I'll go set it out right now.

What's it take to thaw out a 25 pound turkey, six months?

Our friend Doloris baked some cookies and they weren't very good. They were
kind of hard and chewy and didn't taste right. She realized as she
finished baking the last batch she had forgotten to blend in the flour.

A friend's wife made Manwiches and didn't read the directions on the can.
She neglected to add the ground beef. He said they were a bit thin in
texture.

Knew instinctively she was cutting it close.

If you haven't started thawing it in the refrigerator yet you are destined
to spend a few hours at the sink.

Gave me a good laugh picturing Tim in the sink for a few hours.
He'd be cold, pruny and cranky.
Wonder how much time in the over it would take to cheer him up.

Right. I've been there, trying to get the giblet bag out. Speaking of
giblets, I'll have the gizzard partially digested before the bird comes out
of the oven. I can hardly wait. Mom gets the liver.... raw.

My damn hairball doesn't like raw poultry any more.
After ten years as a lightning bird killer, she now prefers Popeye's.
She eats no organ meat.
Perhaps she's read about the health hazards ?

There are dozens of recipes, Rosie, and I've made a few. The one I used
this time uses egg white, vanilla, butter for the coating. I've made the
ones that call for cinnamon and nutmeg too. Do a google search for candied
pecans and you will find hundreds of recipes.

Will someone please help me. I can't quit eating the damn things.

Tim, you could have made a homemade pecan pie in less time than it took to
thaw the one you bought.
And....it would have been much better.

Happy Thanksgiving !

Bunch of hungry 15 year olds not getting it. :-)

You bet. I've made a couple pecan pies, and they are easy to make and
delicious. The one I bought was baked in a local bakery over in Suttons
Bay, and proved to be excellent, and thawed enough thanks to you guys.

Hope you had as nice a dinner as I did today. They put on quite a spread.
