OK,this is peculiar. When using a Genesis 3 unit with a Sega 6-button
non-turbo controller, I cannot move LEFT in Ms. Pac-Man, and when
attempting to start a game in Forgotten Worlds, the game immediately
goes to the "Game Over" screen after the intro with the two guys
talking. This only happens when using an official Sega 6-button
non-turbo controller with the Genesis 3. The Genesis 3 unit actually
came with a different model 6-button controller (w/ turbo) and I've
had no issues with that.

Anyone experience with this issue? I'm guessing other games would give
me problems too.

Have you tried the mode button? I'm not sure why they would work with the
turbo controller but not the other one, but they're both early games, so it
makes sense that they might have issues with a 6 button controller. I
suppose it could be a really weird interaction with the hardware changes in
the model 3 Genesis.

If the mode button doesn't help, then I'm afraid I'm out of ideas.

Hmm, there's no mode button on this controller (BTW: just what are
those mode buttons for??). The model of the controller reads MK-1653.
Yeah, I chalked it up to an incompatibility with the funky Genesis 3
hardware, though I can't see how Majesco would have overlooked
something like this. Maybe it's just MY Genesis 3?

It is the Mode button that will fix this. For some reason, Ms. Pac-Man
is one of those games that freaks out when you plug in the 6 button
controller, without holding down Mode when it starts up. Golden Axe 2
will also do something similar...

I see. Unfortunately my 6-button controller does not have a mode
button. Wonder if this would stop Forgotten Worlds from freaking out
too. Of course, it's easy enough to use another controller, though the
problem got me curious.

If I'm not mistaken if you use a genesis brand 3 button controller
with the red markings on the buttons your game will play instead of
ending when you start forgotten worlds.

Your 6 button pad doesn't have a Mode button? That's weird, I thought
they all had one. As for it fixing the FW issue, it does(I too
experienced it when first playing the game with the 6 button pad years
and years ago).

No, no mode button and it has a right "shoulder" button like an SNES
pad. Strange that they'd put that there. There's no Genesis game on
earth that lets you use it. I wonder if I could use my Tyco Power
Plug to map a combo to it ("Hadouken!").

That's the Mode button. Maybe the text is just worn off.

There are a few actually, Star Wars for 32X, for example, uses it to let
you switch between cockpit and 3rd person view.

On a completely unrelated note, is it just me or does Admiral Akbar
sound retarded in that game? I always though the programmers were
trying to be funny and so made him sound like that, though maybe not.

And thanks for the mode button info!

To me, it sounds like he's from Jersey or something. ;)

Not a problem.

Put an "http://www." in front of your sig to make it show up as a
hyperlink. :)
