I have a DSC 832 system. After I hooked up the phone line, I tested the
system to phone a test number just to test the phone line hook-up. It
called the number just fine, but the trouble light is on because it
failed to communicate with the "central station".

How do I reset the system and get the trouble light to turn off?

The best method is to complete a successful test transmission to a central
station receiver.

Thanks for the reply Robert. Is there an alternate method if a central
station receiver is unavailable?

Next time it connects with the central station and empties the buffer it
will clear.

DSC has a nifty little simulator that works like a charm...

Program it as local and then power it down and back up again, reset the
clock and the trouble light should go out

I probably should have said that if you have the need to test the phone
line connection again, use the pager format and it won't generate a FTC
trouble.

and empties the buffer. I hate that... what do they do that for?
Sending signals when they're yesterday's news seems stupid to me.

not if you're trying to troubleshoot something that happened already.

Good info everyone, thanks.

One more question not related to the trouble light:

I would like to install 3 smoke detectors hooked into my DSC 832 system.
Should I get 2 or 4 wire detectors? The two wire seem easier. Can I hook
3 detectors together, one after another?
