Okay so we've all expressed our musical preferences but what music are your
folks into?

Some of you have lost either your mother or father but can you remember what
got them going.

My dad - well he kinda ain't really that bothered. He finds it astounding
why I bear the mark of AC/DC on both arms. He does like Sinatra though.

My mom - she listens most to Irish music seeing as she was born in Limerick,
Eire.

Pass it over. What music are your folks into?

Good idea for a post, poetboy.

My mom and dad listened to the Beatles, CCR, S & G, Cat Stevens,
Kingston Trio, Harry Belafonte, and Harry Chapin. All of which I loved
listening to. Once I heard "All Right Now" though I put most of those
records on the back burner!
My mom liked AC/DC when I started getting into them. She thinks "Big
Balls" is great song! hahahah!

My Pa was into jazz in a big way so I got to hear a lot of that growing up and
appreciated it more when I started having a smoke! He also was well into the
Stones,Beatles,Chuck Berry but sadly not Hendrix, I can remember as a kid him
giving a neighbour a couple of original Hendrix singles and the Are You
Experienced album...Damn!
My Ma is into folky stuff as well as Sinatra and most stuff from the
sixties. She is in to H2H the track but I reckon its because I have worn her
down over the years!

My pa got me into The Stones by giving me their Through The Past Darkly
album for christmas back around 1981. He used to play John Denver (Rocky
Mountain High is a cool tune...too bad he couldn't fly a plane) & Roger
Wittaker (sp.) albums on the family hifi when I wuz a kid. Supposedly my
mom seen the Beatles at the Montreal Forum back in the 60's.

Went over to my dad's place for dinner last sunday and wuz privied to some
live Bee Gees. There I wuz eating me carrots and peas while tappin' me foot
to Jive Talkin'..lol. I will admit though...some of the earlier (60's) Bee
Gees wuz cool.

My Mom is into the Beatles..she was lucky enough to see them in concert. She
also likes Sinatra..Tony Bennett..Judas Priest and David Lee Roth. Been trying
to get her into DC..but no luck..well..maybe a couple of tunes though. : )

My Dad..well..from what my Mom told me..he was into the Beatles and Sinatra as
well. There's a tune from Gordon Lightfoot called *Sundown* that somehow stuck
in my mind when I was a kid..hanging out with my Dad. Don't know if he ever
liked Lightfoot..but that song always brings back that memory. : )

They both listen to country music, and my father is also a fan of
James Last.

My dad: AC/DC, Rainbow, Ozzy, Nazareth, Angel, The Godz, etc, etc. Mostly
hard rock from the 70's & early 80's.

My mom: The Archies, Mamas and the Papas, Peter, Paul, and Mary, AC/DC.

Heh....good post, Bob.

My old man was not a cool cat when it came to music.....he liked country
(but not bluegrass!) and traditional Scottish pipe music. He hated all the
music I love - 'repetetive drivel' was how he described it!

However, he had a sneaky admiration for 'DC (especially Bonny) - I think the
band's Scottish roots appealed to him.

My Dad (died when I was 13)....Military Brass Bands, Old Music Hall shit and
George Formby. More to the point, my Father hated the Beatles and probably
anything after. His ambition was to be a judge so the he could hang people.
Mostly black people. The boyfriend's dad in American Beauty was about as
close to my dad as you can get on film. He was a Nazi.

My Mum.....Jim Reeves and Perry Como and all that 40's and 50's ballad crap.
Shit from musicals during and just after the war. That kinda stuff.

AC/DC probably saved me from madness. Then again.......

My Mom and Dad have been lifelong Stones fans. My Dad has also loved the
Who, the Kinks, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, and assortment of other folks. My Mom
has always gone for earlier Eric Clapton (Derek & the Dominos) and Dire
Straits.

I think I lucked out pretty nicely - my folks don't own a single Carpenters
album!

My folks are pretty cool actually. They both are into 'DC (after I opened
their eyes hehe) Pa has a few albums and since I couldn't stand to see an
old man whine, he came along to the 96 show. Hehehe I didn't know what to
think about going to see 'DC with my dad. Yikes...........

Anyways I 'spose its kinda cool in a way that they dig the music I like so
much=) They got into a lot of stuff that I used to bring home. GNR, hehehe
Quiet Riot, SRV etc. But they still have their "own" music too. Pa is into
good old R'n'R. You know Somertime Blues stuff like Eddie Cochran (he kinda
rules actually) Also has a nice collection of Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters,
Ledbelly etc. And as for Ma, well she likes the R'n'R too but now her tastes
sometimes seem to lean to more of the upbeat country shit. Its garbage but
atleast it ain't that drawn out nasely crap. But, I can put on a 'DC album
at anytime and they can atleast sing a long to a few tunes from any record.

Cheers!

My father is the only person I know that likes Deep Purple more than me. And
both my parents liked the Rolling Stones and the Beatles. My dad also liked
Black Oak Arkansas. I can't think of anything else very memorable.

So I'm not the only one subjected to this <g> Although I now listen to
John Denver myself when relaxing so it must have stuck somewhere. Only
listen to Roger Whittaker when I'm feeling nostalgic <lol>

Both parents liked the same music, the above mentioned plus most Country,
Buddy Holly, Cliff Richard and a bit of Queen now and again

Neither liked (or like) AC/DC and just give me a funny look when I
mention them. <g>

Cheers

Father: So-called "Golden Oldies" although he does like AC/DC, Judas Priest,
and some of the other groups that he's heard playing on my cassette player and
CD player. Basically, he also likes some Beatles, some Rolling Stones, and
most annoying phrase of his is "They're old as the hills".
Mother: Mama, ew, I didn't mean to make you cry, some times I wish I was
never born at all, just joking, actually, she's into Christian music and
attends the National Church of God in Ft. Washington, Maryland.
