Ms. Avens, thank you for asking about my brother.

Berry came home after about a week -- he brought a lawyer with him,
and the lawyer was carrying some kind of court injunction about not
keeping marmite on the premises.

Well, Mom was happy enough to have him back, and I was glad to have
him around to play with my new guinea pig. The guinea pig is about 18
inches high while lying flat, and I "poofed" him into existence out of
my Dad's favorite ottoman. I was very pleased with myself, but my Dad
makes me turn him back into an ottoman when he's home. Dad says he
can't very well put his feet up on the guinea pig; it's too squirmy.

Anyway, the guinea pig took an immediate liking to Berry. It tried to
nibble on his foot and then chased him around the room two or three
times before it settled down. I thought that was really neat.

Berry's given up Magic, by the way. Since the only spell he ever tried
that worked was the one turning me into a box turtle, and he couldn't
turn me back afterwards, he decided he just didn't have the proper
touch for it. So I guess that leaves me as the gifted one in the
family.

Well, that's the news for now. Thanks,

BB,

Many thanks foir bringing me up to date. Congratulations on your new
guinea-pig (I look forward to seeing a photo). I particularly like
the idea of a guinea-pig that's sometimes an ottoman (or vice versa) -
far more interesting and useful than just being one or the other.
Reminds me of the piece of furniture (do you have them in the US?)
called an occasional table. I always wondered what they were the rest
of the time. Anyway, I think you may have a very marketable spell
there, especially as it's readily reversible.

I feel Berry has made the right decision in giving up Magic. I hope
he'll now find something more suited to his talents.

Best wishes to all your family.

Zelda,

It has come to my attention that you don't yet have a photo and bio up on
the Faces of ARWM. Would you like to submit one?

Cheers,

I'll see to it you get a "Wendy Zephyr and Berry Davis" picture, but I don't think I can manage one of the imaginary mother. -- BB, Gale

Well, the only picture we have of the guinea pig so far is now up with
my book ad (at the bottom of the page) -- the url is

http://www.capstonebeads.com/Magick/wendyzephyr.html

Please look for my book at your favorite bookstore.

And thanks.

Wendy (and sorry for calling you Zelda in my last post -- I was looking at
the "From" field in Outlook Express),

I am sad to report that you've used absolute links to the pictures on your
hard drive, so we can't see them (though you'd likely be able to if you
checked)! Simply editing the html file so just the picture name exists in
the <img> tag (as opposed to the path on your hard drive) will fix the
problem.

I look forward to seeing the pictures.

(and *do* submit a bio for the Faces site, will you?)

Blessed Be,
deņ

Opps! I stuck the revised page up in a hurry & didn't check the code.
Since I looked at the page from my own computer, I didn't realize the
pictures weren't up.

Fixed now.

Wendy will be getting something together in the next few days.

Gale! I had no idea you offered to do Wendy's page for her! How nice of you!
Come to think about it, though, I guess it *would* be tough for a turtle to
type.... though she could always magic it up....

Or search at Amazon.com as I am doing now:

"Wendy Zephyr's Guide to Genuine Real Magic"

Gets "Sister Wendy's book of Painting"
"Real Magic" gets "Walt Disney Imagineering: A Behind the Dreams Look
at Making the Magic Real"
Oh no this can't be happening...
"Magical paths to Making a Fortune in Real Estate"
"The Old Girls' Book of Spells: the real meaning of menopause, sex,
car keys, and other important stuff about magic"
"The Real Work: Essential Sleight of Hand for Street Operators"
"The Velveteen Rabbit: Or How Toys Become Real [ABRIDGED]"
Garhh ! Falls over and gets disconnected !

I'm sure its the PTB getting their own back on me for all the terrible
things I have said about books.

(Still thinking what could be the "real meaning of menopause, sex, and
car keys" ??)

Oh, dear! You came up with the *abridged* version of _The Velveteen
Rabbit_ -- is nothing sacred? First Frazer and now _The Velveteen
Rabbit_! (I firmly believe stuffed animals become Real; I'm less certain
if I'll ever become Real.)

(P.S. -- You should read the disclaimer in tiny print at the bottom of
the ad for Wendy Zephyr's book. Her book has exactly the same sort of
ephemeral existence as the "Junior Woodchuck Guidebook" mentioned in the
ad. And while Carl Barks was poking fun at scouting, "Wendy Zephyr's"
target is a certain line of books from a certain publisher well-known in
these circles.)

Thanks, Now I know it is an Ephemeral Publication the lady in the book
shop can order it. Might take a little while to get it from the
States, though.

I'll mention that I'm never without my copy. Amazing how most anything &
everything appears in that tiny little book, and just when you want it.

It is truly a Work of Magick.

"Poor Leotine, you look all done in. Come sit down and I'll make you a
nice cup of tea."
"Yes, I have walked for miles and miles, Well, yards.
Lots of "Fly Fishing" by J.P.Hartley but no "Wendy Zepher's Guide to

"Oh Dear, have you tried Yellow Pages"
"Yes, but I can't understand any of those spells"

What a splendid animal! It makes me wonder, though, whether when you
turn in back into an ottoman it stays as wonderfully furry as it (he?
she?) is when it's a guinea-pig. I'd love a deeply fur-covered
ottoman - so comfy to put the feet on.

I get the impression, though, that it's not very interested in ghost
stories. Perhaps Terry Pratchett's stories featuring The Luggage (a
magical chest which runs around on lots of little legs) would appeal
to it more?

See "The Unadulterated Cat" by Terry Pratchett, for further 'Realness'. Now
my Bert is a pedigree, but v.v.v.v.v.v.v.DEFINITELY real! (just read
"Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason", v.v.v.v.funny book.
