was out-ethics and at cause for his own health problem. Very late call

As to cause of death, who knows. An awful lot of people have reported

accomplish something OG was never able to do, the distribution of
thousands of fliers. With Narconon's immense and misleading presence all
over the web; from Narconon hype sites to "informational" sites that
refer you to Narconon, every day someone is running into them while
seeking help for a loved one. And, if we could save ONE person with our
efforts, I think we should do so.

In a similar case of a young woman from Greece who was found dead at
Narconon Zutphen in Holland, I got first hand information that she was
already very ill in the evening. Staff decided not to call the doctor
until the morning in an attempt not to disturb the neighbors. (Outside
office hours a doctor in Holland comes straight from the hospital in a
sort of mini ambulance, with horns and flashing lights in case of an
emergency.)
But in the morning she was dead for hours, as she was stone cold.
Autopsy revealed she had used heroin, which was given to her by one of
the other "students". This guy was arrested. Narconon is in no way any
different from other rehabilitation facilities. Accept it uses TRs and
other quackery based on Hubbard's fantasies and is a recruiting tool
for the CULT.

Good plan. It would be very good to do some fliers about Narconon and
all of ITS front groups.
Actually I could see raiding a Narconon facility, no matter how
remote, if a local TV station wanted to send out a newscaster to
cover it and interview somebody on the spot.

Sorry for the lag but the information needed to be checked out and
clarified. There was alot of sadness connected to this story, as
Patrick W Desmond was a very popular guy with a very loving family.
Here's what I can tell you:
Patrick Desmond of Viera FL was a returning student/ patient of
Narconon GA. He had been in GA for 6 months and graduated the program,
but came back to Narconon two weeks before his death due to a relapse.
He was probably at the stage of doing the sweat program, although I
don't have all the facts about that yet.
Narconon GA is only licensed as an outpatient facility , currently
monitoring the compliance and paperwork of the program. In the past
have been sanctioned for opetrating illegally an a residental program,
which I think is the case here. Since they is not licensed to run a
detox center nor the sauna and vitamin part of the program ( requires
a licensed medical professsional to dole out and monitor the effects
of the vitamins), they supposedly farm it out. This may explain why

Anyway, according to the reports I have received:
Patrick was living in an apt building that also houses the staff
'monitors' who are supposed to be monitoring thre patients. On June
11th, under the watchful eye of 2 monitors, Patrick, a man who
preferred alcohol to drugs, was taken by either another patient or a
staff member ( someone named Brandon,) out to a place called the Bluff
in Atlanta, where he was introduced for the first time to Heroin.
Although 911 was called and he seemed better at one point, it was that
heroin which eventually killed him that night.
Narconon will try to say that Patrick is part of the 30% who don't
make it from the 70% who do but that would be a lie because the
program that 'guarantees' it's help just messed up big time. Illegally
operating as a residential program, selling a residential program to
victims and their loved ones and not providing the care promised is
negligence and fraud. I will keep you updated as the info come in.

Maybe, maybe not. This is not a "church" but a "non-profit" private
drug treatment program that already got into some trouble. Scientology
might try to defend them, or it might say they were out tech squirrels
and throw them under the bus.

Yes, or find a judge who sends people to Narconon as a plea bargain
alternative to jail, and demonstrate at the courthouse.
As I understand, this guy went back to Narconon to convince the court
that he was making an honest effort to get cleaned up. I'm only
speculating, but looks as if he may have had a second or third DUI
arrest, and was facing a jail sentence if he didn't go into a rehab
program.
That would be pretty typical for the US.

I don't think so, Rev. According to the info I received, he went back
because he flunked a court-mandated breathalizer test.
What Mary posted sounds quite plausible to me, although I don't see
why someone from the facility (student, patient, minder or whatever)
would take him to some low life dive and get him to try heroin for the
first time.
I keep reading about so much drug use at these Narconon facilities,
with complicity of the staff. Pretty sloppy management, wouldn't you
say?

We definately don't have the complete story yet and I have no idea
about Patrick having contacted the press in the past. What I can say
is that I have ben told that he and his family decided that returning
to the program was in his best interests at the time because of he
relapsed to drinking on one occasion.
I have not been contacted by any reporters but certainly anyone with
information on anything related to this matter can contact me and I
can follow up. I have received emails and I am only posting
information I can verify and information that won't spoil the
investigation. Narconon Int is trying to cover this up. They have been
down in Atlanta and some staff have been fired. I and others have
contacts providing information that is filling in the blanks, and for
now the family needs time to grieve.

The big difference here is the victim is not property of the Scientology
organization, rather a customer whose parents paid big bucks and
expected some kind of responsible stewardship on the part of Narconon to
keep their son safe, if not happy.
This is not the first time there's been a death due to Narconon
negligence. The tally is rising. At some point, the death toll from this
program and its unqualified staff members will no longer be ignored.
I hope this death is that final straw.

People in drug rehabs are not
often in a healthy state. This person died during a drug rehabilation
course that happened to be a Scientology organisation. I am sorry for
the family en relatives AND i am sorry for the people working there.

When I was in, I ran Narconon CT for a few years. Here's what OSA will
do.
They will send in a "mission" to "handle" this so it does not turn into
a "flap" or legal liability for them.
They will contact the family, and show great concern and caring but will
have a legal waiver all prepared that basically says that NN, Scn, ABLE
etc are not at fault and not to blame and they will try to get the
parents to sign it.
This is SOP for them. They don't care that the family is grieving, they
will actually use the fact that they are so "downtone" in order to get
them to sign the papers.
Hopefully the family will kick them out of the house.

very upset sister came own and really gavce them a piece of her
