LIBERATION SELLS OUT!!!

Dear fellow "true" punks (you know who you are):

First of all, I want to apologize for such a cheesy form letter, but i feel
the need to tell as many people about this as quickly as possible. Please feel
free to make copies of this letter and send em to your friends, or better
yet...just print this in your zine.

We have all witnessed the sudden rise in popularity (aka exploitation and
commercialism) of our beloved punk rock by the likes of radio, MTV and Rolling
Stone. We have also witnessed the mass accumulation of wealth by such indie
labels as Epitaph, Lookout!, Fat Wreck and Dischord and have even seen the
major labels scramble to cash in on our scene.

If you thought this was bad...wait til you hear about the biggest con going!
At least Lookout!, Epitaph and Dischord are straight about their dealings with
"the man".

You may have already heard about the "cool" indie label called LIBERATION
RECORDS which is run by Dave Taba, of "Punk Sucks" fame. The truth is this
label has been shopped to major labels for the last few months with the most
interest coming from the managet of the Stone Temple Pilots, Steve Stewart. For
years now Dave Taba has been running Liberation as well as zines, starting
with Innovative Plagerism and then Big Bang. Both zines main focus was to call
attention to hypocrital action and fraudulent activities in the punk rock
community. He never let anyone trying to take advantage of the punk masses get
away with it.

The deal now seems to be that Dave Taba wants to get more than six figures of
investment money from anyone who can offer it to build up the label so it can
later be sold to a major. When Steve Stewart specifically asked Dave Taba if
his long range goals included selling Liberation to a major, he replied "Yes,
that's my plan." Imagine being signed to an indie label only to wake up and
find that you are the latest MTV buzz clip because some asshole sold you out to
the manager of Stone Temple Pilots...what the fuck!!!!! How fucked up can this
'business' of punk get????? Liberation has been scamming us for years with
their talk of keeping punk pure and being against the mainstream culture.

It is bad enough to sell out punk, but this shit is just fucking ridiculous.

Stay aware. Stay punk. Stay away from Dave Taba and Liberation Records.

That fucking blows, I must say. I was talking to Ric Nimrod a week and a
half ago, whose band, The Nimrods, is on Dr. Dream Records, and he said
that after the Nimrods signed, they found out that Dr. Dream is actually
owned by Polygram, or one of those majors. That is a fucking bad deal.
Real bummer...

Gee does that mean I'll get rich because I play bass for Everready?

Since I am going to be rich I will accept email proposals of marriage from punk grrrls
who want to hang with a rockstar and get the ultimate paid rock and roll vacation.
I got lots of blow and live with my mom we're going to be very happy together. Don't
worry i am a good cook but i am a messy housekeeper. Prefer redheads with lots of
