Examining some of the other letters and memos in DEFRAUDING
AMERICA may provide some further clues on the relationship between
the various intelligence organizations. For instance, in one letter
on National Security Agency/Central Security Service stationary,
North is referred to as USMC, NSC, while Robert Hunt is referred to
as USN, NSC. This would clearly be consistent with NSC staff and
members retaining their old posts (as would be expected). The
letter is signed by Steven Bradshaw, Special Assitant-Security Div.,
National Security Agency, although in the body of the letter he says
"we at Central can only ... " That would imply no real distinction
between NSA and Central Security Service (as has been mentioned in
Puzzle Palace).
It is often also true that military people are assigned to the
National Security Agency at various times (as per Puzzle Palace), and
it is possible that North was NSA, USMC, and NSC. Why else would he
refer to himself in a letter to Poindexter as NSA? In another memo,
Bill Casey (CIA) also referred to North as NSA. But then again, CIA
there may have referred to Certified Idiots of America.
Sincerely,
Austin Murphy (Ph.D. Finance)
