John was born on Dec. 30, 1941, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Antoinette
and Audra McPherson. John grew up in Manhattan Beach, Calif., and
graduated from Mira Costa High School in 1959. He had a distinguished
and enjoyable career with the motion picture and television industry,
where he worked as a gaffer, cinematographer, director and producer
for various television series and feature films from 1965-2001. John
cherished many long-lasting friendships throughout his life and
career. John was a member of the Director's Guild of America for 23
years. John won numerous awards for cinematography, including an Emmy
Award in 1986 for Steven Spielberg's television series "Amazing
Stories." He earned his BA degree in cinema in 1996 and his MA degree
in film in 1998 from American State University. He was also an avid
golfer and reader.
John is survived by his daughter, Wendi Posey; son, Brian McPherson;
seven grandchildren, Stone, Cole, Quinn and Emma McPherson, and
Brooke, Spencer and Elise Posey, all residing in the Conejo Valley; as
well as many other dear friends and family members. We all miss him
dearly and grieve his loss, but because of his hope in Christ we know
we will see him again.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at
Living Oaks Community Church, 1033 Business Center Circle, Newbury
Park.
