R. Kris 'Bone Daddy' Orendorff
July 17, 1967 - November 3, 2007
SALEM - Our beloved Kris died tragically, from injuries sustained in
an auto accident with friend, Shawn Jacober, while returning from a
successful music event sponsored by Bone Daddy Productions and the
Samurai Duck in Eugene.
Kris was born in Gresham to Robert 'Ripley' and Nina (Madsen)
Orendorff. He was the fourth of five children. He graduated from
McNary High School in 1986. Kris held many jobs in his lifetime. The
job he took the most pride in was caring for the schools, students,
and staff of Salem-Keizer School District, Lee, Forest Ridge, and
McKinley elementary schools. He was lovingly known as 'Mr. Kris' by
the students and staff.
Kris loved music and art of all kinds. He was a huge supporter of
local music and was just beginning to enjoy seeing his dream come true
in Bone Daddy Productions, promoting and booking rock shows with bands
and venues from Seattle, Portland, Eugene, San Francisco, Calif., and
Austin, Texas. His friendship, high integrity, and supportive efforts
will be greatly missed by many.
Kris is survived by his loving family, Debbie Markishtum and her
son, Andy; mother, Nina Madsen; father and step-mother, Ripley and
Norma Orendorff; siblings, Mari Ogren, Jim Orendorff and Sharon Rice,

SALEM, Ore. - Two Salem-area men died early Saturday when their car
drifted off Interstate 5 and crashed into the back of a parked semi-
trailer, authorities said.
Oregon State Police identified the pair as 40-year-old Robert Kris
Orendorff and 39-year-old Shawn Alan Jacober.
According to police, Orendorff was driving a red 1991 Toyota Tercel
north on the interstate when it hit the trailer about 3 a.m. near the
Santiam Rest Area. The truck driver, who was pulling three semi-
trailers, had stopped on the extended shoulder near the rest area to
catch up on paperwork and had the truck's parking lots on, police
said.
The truck driver, whose name was not released, was not injured.
Witnesses told investigators that the Toyota had been weaving on the
interstate prior to the crash. Police found no evidence that Orendorff
had tried to stop or swerve to miss the trailer.
Jacober was not wearing any seat belt while Orendorff was only using
his shoulder strap.
