Edward W. Lighton Washington Gas Official
Edward W. Lighton, 84, a retired superintendent for Washington Gas, died
April 27 [2010] at Inova Fairfax Hospital after a heart attack.
Mr. Lighton, a Falls Church resident, spent more than 30 years with
Washington Gas. Part of Mr. Lighton's responsibilities included helping to
manage the company's gas supplies and control its distribution. He retired
in the early 1980s. Edward William Lighton, a native of Albuquerque, served
in the Navy Seabees during World War II. He was a graduate of Cornell
University's engineering program and moved to the Washington area in the
mid-1950s.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Joan Morgan Lighton of Annandale; a
son, Tom Lighton of Ashburn; and two grandsons.
