Watts Tracy Estabrook Company Manager
Watts Tracy Estabrook, 87, a retired manager at Watkins-Johnson Co. of
Gaithersburg, died of myelodysplastic syndrome at Sunrise Assisted Living
Center in Cranberry Township, Pa. He had lived in the Washington area all
his life until 1997.
Mr. Estabrook was manager of sales application engineering at the
Gaithersburg company, where he worked for 25 years, making radio receivers
and the like for federal government agencies. He previously had worked for
Nems-Clark, Vitro and CEI. He retired in 1988.
A native Washingtonian, Mr. Estabrook attended Bethesda-Chevy Chase High
School and graduated from Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania. He attended
George Washington University until joining the Army Air Forces during World
War II, becoming a P-38 fighter pilot who flew 67 combat missions in the
European theater. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.
His first wife, Carolyn Hill Estabrook, died in 1990. They had been married
for 48 years.
Survivors include his wife, Jean O'Donavan Raba of Severna Park; three
children from his first marriage, W. Tracy Estabrook III of Pittsburgh,
Thomas M. Estabrook of Laurel and Pebin Waters of Pittsburgh; four
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
