Donald Thomas Buddin, age 77, died Thursday, June 30, 2011 at St. Francis
Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina after an illness. Funeral services
will be held at 2pm Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Floyd Funeral Home Chapel with
burial in Thomas Cemetery, directed by FLOYD FUNERAL HOME, INC of Olanta.
Visitation will be held from 6-8pm, Tonight (Saturday) July 2, 2011 at the
funeral home.

Mr. Buddin was the son of the late Carlisle Alga Buddin and Carrie Lucille
Willis Buddin.

At the age of 18, he was signed by the Boston Red Sox in 1952 to play
professional baseball for 13 years.

Born in Olanta, South Carolina Don made his home in Greenville for 36 years.
He participated in many fund raisers, enjoyed playing in Major League Old
Timers Games, and contributing his time to Camp Happy Days. He worked with
special Olympics, was a member of the S.C. Hall of Fame, Major League
Baseball Players Alumni and a member of the United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Willis Buddin and David Buddin.

He is survived by two daughters, Susan (Randy) Buddin Hardy of Charleston,
S.C. and Cindy Buddin Meetze of Chapin, S.C.. One son Michael (Laura) Buddin
of Murrells Inlet, S.C.. Two sisters, Linda Tisdale of Ladson, S. C. and
Delores Derrick of Ballentine, S. C. and seven grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Baseball Assistance Team, 245 Park Avenue, 31st
Floor, New York, N. Y. 10167.
