Hi, I'm interested in mythology, but aren't HUGELY into it. But am
researching and one day, would like to be. (Studying too many ancient
cultures and beliefs at once..) I'm afraid Australia isn't overly
mystical.

Anyway, to my question: Does anyone know if/where I can get a nice
pic of a Black Unicorn??

And is there a Black Unicorn that plays ANY part in any sort of
mythology??

Hey! I resent that! *white* Australia may not be very mystical but
*black* Australia, namely aborigional culture is full of tales of

the tale of an tribal elder "singing" someone to death?

And what about the bunyip?

No, I dont know where you might be able to buy a picture of a black
unicorn from. Though, in Fremantle, Western Australia there are shops
popping up everywhere which sell "artifacts" from American Indians,
Pictures, books and other stuff of faeries, Books full of Celtic lore
etc

There is a nice black unicorn picture on the book by that name by
Terry Brooks. I don't know, you could probably do a websearch for it..
but that is the best picture of a black unicorn *I* have seen. :)

I have several pictures of black unicorns, what are you looking for? I
have collected Unicorns for years and blacks are my favorite. (There a
lot more rare).

Unicorns can come in all colors, Black, white, chestnut, Palomino, Pinto.
Their Horn is always the same color as their head. Treat a Black Unicorn
just as a black horse. In movies they are represented as evil, but this
is not true! Many of them are as nice and placid as regular white
Uncicorns. As for a pic...

There is an excellent picture of a black unicorn on the cover of the
book
"The Black Unicorn" by Terry Brooks and the book can be found in the
fantasy section of most any bookstore.
As for the question of mythology I really can't tell you anything about
black unicorns--I'm curious to know myself.

Greg Hildebrandt did a most wonderful picture of
a black unicorn rearing up towards a pegasus
coming out of the clouds. The picture is
entitled Rendezvous. I've seen it in a book
called "Great Masters of Fantasy Art" published
by Taco (ISBN 3-89268-008-6)
Hope this helps.

Pliny's unicorn, according to "Lore of the Unicorn" and "The Unicorn was
there" had a solid black horn, two cubits in length. I can't find a
reference to the colour of the unicorn's coat, but it had the head of a
stag, the tail of a boar, and the feet of an elephant.

Myself I think he was on opium at the time or maybe it was another
"rhino mistake":)
