How many TFP`s does this guy deserve??? I can`t think of any album I`ve
played 145 days in a row everyday, let alone one this long ( or this
bad...sorry, couldn`t resist! ).

Friday, November 7, 2008 will mark the 145th straight day Cleveland,
Ohio JUDAS PRIEST fan Jim Bartek has listened to PRIEST's "Nostradamus",
a double-disc concept album based on the mysterious, world-known 16th
century French prophet Nostradamus, in its entirety from start to finish
since the initial release. To put his obsession in better perspective,
this translates to approximately 249 hours or one-and-a-half weeks of
his life listening to the album. There have even been some days when
Bartek has listened to the entire album multiple times so the numbers
are higher than reported. He owns all the various configurations
released and mixes between listening to the 2-CD and 3-LP sets.

Asked why this album has made such an impact in his life, Bartek
responds, "I wish I could answer that! I don't know, it just grabs me
and I enjoy listening to it. I honestly wish I could pinpoint and give a
rock solid answer but I can't." Bartek adds "The flow of the record and
the way you can just feel what the guy (Nostradamus) was going through
from the way PRIEST play and sing it. Rob's [Halford] vocals tell you
exactly how the guy is feeling at a particular moment. It all just fits
perfectly. I'm not tired of it yet. It's an epic record about a very
interesting subject."

It's a great double cd that lends itself well to repeated listens (if
you like it to begin with), but once a day for 145 days is too much.
Where does he find the 2 hours every day to devote to this?

Probably not until he lost his job and wife from playing the album way
too much.

And now he's got as much time as he wants.
Couldn't imagine 145 times listening to Nostra, I've not even
completed a full 4 times. Which reminds me, I did sort of promise
myself I'd work another listen in before the year ends. Maybe I will
go ahead and do so tomorrow.

Probably more than Servo has.

As I said, I couldn't imagine it. I am sure I've not reached even
half that number, or even combined listens of Demo, Jug, AoR and
Nostra all together.
Now, PK, now we are talking.

I've probably listened to Nostradamus about 60 to 70 times and AOR
hundreds of times. Then again I have limited taste in what I like to
listen to so its easier for me to give them more listens than most of
the posters here.

It's that days in a row thing. I never listen to music all that
often on the weekend. Not full CD's anyway. So that would be a killer
there.
Occasionally I will like an album by some band and give it a lot of
repeated listens everyday at work, but I've never ever worked 145 days
in a row. I'd have to be paid a lot of extra cash to work every
weekend.

Yea it's kind of disturbing that this guy has the 2 hours every day
hat he can devote to listening to the same cd. I mean couldn't he
find anything else to do? I guess he is a Priest fan (although he
might just be a fan of Nostradamus) but he must be a boring guy.

If you listened to Nostradamus all the way thru for 140 days straight,
you would come unhinged too!!

I did manage a listen at work today. It was ok at best. Not sure
when I will really want to hear it again. Surely never 145 days
straight.

Of course it is. It's Glenn and KK, they usually always kick ass.

I just hear a bit of that style in some of AWK's work, but I can't
place which song. I figure he more than likely got some inspiration
from Priest at some point, anyway.

He crossposts them to several groups. To my knowledge no-one from here

If you're using google groups through Firefox there's something called
the "Greasemonkey" filter that has a decent killfile and ignore
script. It works rather well, and I think all the info about the
proper scripts can be found here. It's been a while since I installed
it, so I wouldn't be the one to come to for any advice, but it's
pretty easy to set up:
http://www.penney.org/ggkiller.html

I already have the "Piggy" in my killfile, and I seldom see anything
he posts anymore unless there is a reply to his threads.

It'll make the newsgroups much easier to navigate when you don't see
shitposts all over the place. Of course, you'll see a lot less posts
too, but at least they'll all be relevant.
