Keep looking. A seven year old report from the BBC is hardly credible.

Just because many Israelis carry a grudge against the UK for that countries
shameful toadying to the Arabs back in '48, is no reason for you to not be
repentant anyway.

Apparently there's 11,000 prisoners now. Mostly held without trial and

Ah! You're one of the ignorant too I see. America only came into WW2
after the Germans declared war on you. The day after Pearl harbour I
think it was. You did not come running to defend us, you needed our
help.
The Russians did more than anybody.
Regardless of anything you may have "learned" in Hollywood movies,
John Wayne was not present, Boeing did not invent the jet engine. Bill
Gates did not invent the computer. They were all Brit WW2 inventions .
Less than 23% of forces landing at "D day" were US.
No bombs fell on America. And yes I know about Japanese ballons before
you mention them.
Almost no American civilians were killed.

You did provide massive manufacturing capacity. As a result, some
Americans became very rich.

Ignorant?

Uh, American came into WW2 when the JAPANESE bombed Pearl Harbor.
Japan bombs Pearl Harbor, 7 December 1941
US declares war on Japan, 8 December 1941
Germany & Italy declare war on US, 11 December 1941
US declares war on Germany, 11 December 1941

> The Russians did more than anybody.

Yep. They suffered 65 million dead (but who's counting). On the other hand,
the US supplied the Soviet Union with:

21,795 planes,
12,056 tanks,
4,158 armored personnel carriers,
7,570 tractor trucks,
8,000 antiaircraft and 5,000 antitank guns,
8,218 artillery guns,
11,155 railroad freight cars
132,000 machine-guns,
472 million artillery shells,
9,351 transceivers customized to Soviet-made fighter planes,
2.8 million tons of petroleum products,
102 ocean-going dry cargo vessels,
29 tankers,
23 sea tugboats and icebreakers,
433 combat ships and gunboats,
4,478,000 tons of food supplies
2,670,000 tons of petroleum products,
106,893,000 tons of cotton,
3,786,000 tires
15,417,000 army boots
as well as mobile bridges, railroad equipment, aircraft radar equipment, and
many other items.

> Regardless of anything you may have "learned" in Hollywood movies,

John Wayne was a British invention? You are correct, he was not present in
WW2. He was too old to serve (34 at the outbreak of conflicts). He did serve
in the OSS.

> Less than 23% of forces landing at "D day" were US.

Allied forces landing at Normandy
USA - 73,000
British - 60,000
Canadian - 20,000
Plus token amounts from Poland, France, and Belgium.

> No bombs fell on America. And yes I know about Japanese ballons before
> you mention them.
> Almost no American civilians were killed.

Correct. Very few American civilians were killed.

We did suffer 636,000 military dead (plus another 10,000 in the Merchant
Marine) compared to 384,000 from the UK & Crown Colonies.

>

Rich is good.

At the conclusion of WWII, the USA had 50% of the world's manufacturing
capacity. At the start of the war, the Japanese had 11 aircraft carriers,
the US had seven. At the end of the war, the Japanese had 1 functioning
aircraft carrier and the US had 107.

Harry's head is so far up his ass that it's absurd to try to reason
with the guy, so why do it?
The poor guy is retired, obviously at loose ends, and is to be pitied,
not reviled.

It's also kind of hard to believe that he's related to someone as
caring as this:
http://freespace.virgin.net/susan.armitage/macaws.htm
I wonder how his family would think of how he comports himself on
Usenet in the safety of his 'anonymity'?

So, basically the guy sits around all day with nothing to do and
wanks. Like I said, he's to be pitied. Replying to his posts makes
no sense as he simply wants attention. If there's an ass braying in a
field, you don't have to go into the field and bray with them.

A cheap laugh. It took me 2 seconds to write a post allowing him to give
a reply that shows how completely silly and sad he is.

As I said he is good for a cheap laugh. Sad that the human mind can get
twisted to a point where someone obviously believes their distorted
cherry picked view is real.

My suggestion for whenever Harry feels like dumping his mental dustbin
on our newsgroup, would be to not respond at all. If someone feels
that they _must_ respond, a simple Hee Haw! would do nicely. If he's
being an ass, it's the politest way to point it out to him and it
would cut down on wasted words.

Rich is not good in a system the robs the poor to give to the rich and
where the rich pay few taxes. At least Castro robbed the rich to give
to the poor.

20,000 French civilians died in the Normandy landings through bombing
mostly. Many Frenchmen fought behind the lines, sabotaging German
rail and telephone communications. If they were caught, they were
shot out of hand.

At the conclusion of WW2 the USA had the world's only undamaged
manufacturing capacity. This is the only reason for the the wealth of
America. This has now changed. Americans have no tradition of
innovation. They are spiralling back to the economic position of pre-
WW2 and taking the rest of the western world with them.

Heh!

I remember, from MANY years ago, F. Lee Bailey interviewing H.L. Hunt on
public broadcasting. Bailey asked the classic "Do you still beat your wife?"
question:

Bailey: "Mr Hunt, one only has to look at the past where men of great wealth
have shared their largess with those of lesser means. There were the
Carnegies, the Fords, the Rocefllers. Why is it that you've never seen fit
to endow a university or a library with your considerable excesses?

Hunt looked at Bailey as if Bailey had eaten a bug. He replied: "I use my
money to give people something better than a picture to look at in some
museum. I give them a job."

As for taxes, the top 2% of the wage earners in the US pay 40% of the taxes.
It's just not fair, especially since the rich don't use as many government
services as the poor.

Yes. According to the Rules of War, gorillas, resistance fighters,
saboteurs, and the like can be executed forthwith. The Germans did a lot of
things that were evil, but disposing of civilians impeding their war effort
was not one of them.

I never personally knew any of the people I put in jail (or the ones I
fragged in Viet Nam). Most of the time I knew only what was told me by the
observers. That 'hearsay' didn't keep me from arresting the stink-eyes.

The Palestinians have been kicked out of every country they've managed to
infiltrate (Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Cyprus, Tunisia, Kuwait, and Iraq just
to name a few). Some fifty-odd Muslim countries refuse to accept any of
them. Even Egypt didn't want the land of Gaza because it came with a few
hundred thousand Palestinians.

No, the Palestinians are just plain wicked. Almost everybody, including
their co-religionists, knows that.
