Didn't she just undergo cancer treatment and chemo?

Yes, that is most likely why she is bald, and she is to be commended not
ridiculed for being brave enough (isn't that the name of one of her
albums?) to go on as she is, without a wig. That took a lot of balls.
That's what rock and roll is all about.

And besides, it usually takes a "bald twat" to make a crass comment like the
o.p. anyways...

Well she has breast cancer and is undergoing chemo and I thought she was
beautiful.

It was just broadcast here....and I'm wondering if anyone else
thought Melissa sounded and looked quite ill? She was *really*
out of breath at the very end of the song, and looked relieved to
have gotten through it. I'm afraid she's not doing well.

I thought ME was cool. She looked cool. WTF would anyone object? Do people
think guys are going to be put off? Who cares, the chick is a Lesbian and
proud of it. For someone who's been very sick and under a horrible
chemotherapy, she sounded great, more than great, she sounded great for a
woman in perfect health--she really blew Joss Stone off the stage. I now
regret objecting to the suggestion of her staring in the Janis biopic. My
apologies to all ME fans.

She did sound good and strong, seemed to be singing inspired. She
didn't look at all gaunt; maybe she's through the chemo. It doesn't
compare to the way Warren Zevon sounded and looked toward the end when
he was on Letterman; though that was inspired too, just in a fateful on
death's doorstep way.

I remember the announcement she made right before she was going for
treatment. To me it sounded quite guarded, and someone else on agc at
the time said it didn't sound too good. Melissa didn't say anything like
"I expect a full recorvery" or "we caught it in time."

I don't have a good feeling about this. I hope Melissa makes it-she's a
great singer and talent.

Her eye makeup looked gorgeous. Whomever applied it has really got an
artistic knack for that. They really popped and looked amazing.

Well, she heard last week that you want to date her and she figured it was
the most alarming and shocking thing that she could do to get you to turn
the other way and seek out somebody who actually lives INSIDE your trailer
park and is not a celebrity, Defner.

she sounded pretty good; one of the best performances all night,
actually. in a red carpet interview she said she'd just finished chemo.
her girlfriend is pretty smokin'.

Chemo pretty much destroys the immune system and the results aren't
pretty...exhaustion is part of it. So perhaps what you saw was a result of
the chemo and not the cancer? I think she is extremely brave and a wonderful
example.

i'd say of all the interviews i saw, hers was the best. she was
laughing, actually forming sentences (in contrast to most of
the others) and was very comfortable-looking. even her
friend managed to scare up a smile once in a while.

don't these stars have managers that could tell them
this is a BIG MOMENT? and to have something to say
on the red carpet? plenty of them were just looking
around.
