Even though I like my Xbox, and enjoy playing the great games so far, I have
to say that Max Payne should be right up there with most disappointing game
of the year. Even on my PC that game disappointed me. I remember waiting a
long time, with preorders and all. It didn't live up to what I expected at
all. As a matter of fact, I never even finished that game. Couldn't
motivate myself to do it. For a sidenote, I once again was at Fry's
watching people play all they systems, and Xbox looks best hands down. I
mean no disrespect, but it shines. Some dude was playing that Jak and
whatever game for PS2, and it was very dull in color and lots of jaggies. I
told my friend maybe it's the monitor he is playing on, and he told me he
didn't think so considering it was a $1800 monitor.....LOL! So even on the
best stuff it looks very outdated already. The Xbox on an ordinary TV had
RICH color and smooth animations with no slowdown. What disappoints me most
is the lack of color and major slowdowns. Not to mention weak resolutions.
Peace!

Actualy, i give halo credit for being the best shooter of the year. It's a
great game...it really is.

But luigi's mansion? most disappointing? For fuck's sake! I knew it
wasn't going to be anything incredibly amazing....was i the only one? i
don't think any game on the gamecube is that disappointing, besides perhaps
universal studios or something. But luigi's mansion, i don't think, was the
intended flagship title for the GCN, people just labelled it as that because
it was associated in some way with mario.

Anyway, the best games will come out a year or so from now....so i really
don't care what anyone has to say about the gamecube now, i love it....and
even moreso after all those great games come out.

I agree Kabuki is the *worst* game, but the most disappointing game is
different. There wasn't the hype for Kabuki that there was for Luigi's.

I'm a gamer, and I bought all three, and find nothing worth playing on the
GC, and only Halo for the Xbox, which I'm done with now. This time next year
will tell the tale which if any of the new consoles have staying power. The
PS2 proved itself this year, and hopefully it keeps going.

actually the rich gamers bought all three consoles. gamers bought
whatever console had the games they preferred. if there was more than
one console that had games they wanted, and they could afford both the
time and the money for more than one console, then they bought a second,
and possibly a third.

It is more a testament to the fact that there are very few choices for
the GameCube. Of course all the GC owners bought Luigi's mansion, what
else was there? Rogue Squadron? OK two lousy games worth owning.

In contrast to the XBOX who had 17(?) launch titles and several that
were very well recieved. GC may have some games in its future but one
thing is clear, there is not a lot out there right now. In that department
the XBOX owns the GC (and yeah, I know the PS2 owns the XBOX but it has
been around for over a year as well).

your logic is ~extremely~ flawed. Luigi's Mansion was 1st party, and RL
had special attention from Nintendo, yet they were not the only launch
games for the GC. There were more games released for the GC than just 2.

several were ports, but Super Monkey Ball was released with the GC
launch. Also, many games have been released since launch. what about
Pikmin?

you say there ~are~ not many choices for the GC, speaking present tense,
and then speak of RL and LM, yet they were choices specifically for
launch (though not the only choices, as I have pointed out) Then you go
on about the XBox's launch games, but we're past the launch. are ther
more than 17 games for the XBox now? there are for the GC.

I think you need to be a lil more concise with your argument, and get
your facts straight, also :)

Maybe because the cube did have a bunch of games I wanted to play now? I

You do realize there were 15+ games out at the GC launch, right? Good. I
think people had a good deal of choices, unlike the bundles Microsoft's
pushing, which all have Halo in them.

Give me your address, I'll ship over the "Xbox is number one" foam
fingers and the Microsoft flag to your house. What a joker. Going down
to Fry's to compare systems. You're an adult now Mr. Canepa, find
better things to do with your time.

By the way which system are you referring to in regards to the lack of
color and the major slowdowns? So far all systems seem to display
plenty of colors and all have games with slowdown problems.

SMB, Waverace, Tony Hawk, etc. etc. Just because you think they're bad
doesn't make them bad. Try repeating that till the stupidity goes away.

So far the only game anyone's raved about is Halo. The other games got
moderate reviews, most of them worse than the GC games.

Except the several games that are worth buying. Yeah, what a horrible
system, having less than fifty games a month after launch.

I do believe that you are talking out of you ass.

I am a cube owner who has not even played Luigi yet. I own SMB, RL,
Wave Race, and TH3. I bought Wave Race and TH3 at the time I got the
system. I think that they are all great games. I still want to pick
up Pikmin and Luigi. That is 6 games right now that I want.

I won't say anything about the xbox games That I havn't played because
I don't like flame wars. All it is a bunch of assholes spewing shit
back and forth with real meaning.

Which means people liked it. Your argument is rather flawed, you know that?
And before you tell me "they all had no choice," there were more games out
than just LM and RL, so people had plenty of choices. They CHOSE to buy
Luigi's Mansion. Not so with the Xbox bundles and Halo.

Hype? Hype generated by who? The only reason LM could be considered
disappointing is because people wanted a true Mario game and there wasn't
one at launch, so LM is picked as a scapegoat of sorts. Nintendo never
implied that LM would be anything more than what it is. Anybody who is
disappointed by this game wasn't paying attention to what Nintendo was
saying and is guilty of taking internet articles full of wishful thinking
way too seriously.

Really fucktard? In addition to LM, we have been enjoying Super Smash Bros.
Melee, Super Monkey Ball and Wave Race. Also wouldn't mind picking up a few
others like Pikmin. My kids really enjoy the multilplayer games where the
actually get to compete with each other.

And all 17 of these XBox titles are great, right? Shrek, DOA3 (runner up for
disappointing game of the year), NFL Fever where it snows in Tampa, Oddworld
where you run around collecting big green turds...sort of like Pacman in 3d.
How about Fusion Frenzy...probably the worst multiplayer game to ever appear
on any platform? Halo? Sure it's ok, but once you get beyond the slightly
better graphics it doesn't offer anything that I can't find on my PC.

I love how everyone claims to love the crap launch games that came with
their fanboy console. Xbox, PS2, GC...they all do it.

I don't even claim to have liked SSX or Fantavision, or any of the other
crap that launched with the PS2. Same goes for garbage like Halo, PGR, and
all that Luigi business.

That's probably the stupidest flame I've ever seen. You're basically
claiming no one could ever enjoy any launch title simply because you think
it's crap, and anyone who says they enjoy it is a fanboy and lying out of
their ass. Never mind that some people buy two or more consoles and aren't
partial to any system, or that some people are first-time console-buyers and
aren't partial to any of these companies, they have to be fanboys because
they *gasp!* ENJOY launch titles! How sad...

If you don't like a game, fine. It doesn't mean other people shouldn't like
it. I'm sorry to inform you, but you don't shape anyone else's opinion
about their gaming choices.

I'm sorry, I just can't believe that. Just seeing in-game footage in the
commercials and on websites makes me think you're lying out of your ass.
The whole game is very bright and colorful, somewhat reminiscent of a
Gamecube game, perhaps? And I didn't see any jaggies, but the game wasn't
as textured as the Gamecube and Xbox games. Considering it's sort of a
cartoon-looking game, I kinda expected that.

Yeah right, lets see you say with a straight face there are people who
bought the gamecube, that AREN'T looking forward to the new Mario, Zelda,
Metroid, etc etc, and are happier with the games they have now.

Also, in my opinion, ANYONE that races out to the store to either preorder
a console or pick it up on its release day, is a 400% fanboy; either that
or they are the proud parent of some commercial hypnotized literal boy.

Okay. There are people who bought the Gamecube who aren't looking forward
to the new games. They're called first-time console owners.

That's your opinion, and of course it means nothing. Fanboys are ones who
unconditionally love a console based on one game, or based on marketting.
Myself, I bought the Gamecube because there were several games I wanted,
plus the games that will be out next year. Just because there will be good
games out later doesn't mean you can't enjoy the games NOW.

I'm not looking forawrd to the new Zelda, since I only like the 2-d, top
down versions. I hate the fact that they're mangling Metroid by turning
it into an FPS, and I'm not at all interested in the new Mario, since I
don't know anything about it yet. OTOH, Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin, Rogue
Leader, and Wave Race are all well done, and Super Monkey Ball is just

Are you really that dumb? How is it that consumers did not have a
choice whether to buy the XBOX or not? Does it trouble you that there was
such a demand for the XBOX that some retaillers were able to restrict sales
to people who wanted bundles? Even so there were a ton of retaillers that
were selling the XBOX unbundled on launch day.

Microsoft did not force the bundles, the retaillers did. Even so what
is the difference, apparently people wanted both the console and the games.
Why else would they have bought them? Grow up, the XBOX and its games have
been very successful, regardless of the spin you may try to put on it....

Different strokes for different folks. I personally can find nothing
exciting about pounding nails through my dick, but I do find Halo to be a
lot of fun. It is even better on Multi-Player and Coop, to bad you don't

actually I tried SSX Tricky on the GC over Xmas. It's no 1080, but after

Monkey ball I never tried but it looks good, THPS3 was boring as fuck to

to buy at launch, and you're berating me for saying people didn't have a
choice to buy an Xbox? Get a clue, then come back and talk.

Lots, you just choose to disregard them. Besides, who cares if they
are ports? If you don't have a PS2 or a PC these games will be fresh and
new, and still just as fun.

Hey, here is a clue. The bundles that I saw let you choose your
games. Regardless, if people did not want the games they could have
purchased different bundles or an unbundled unit. Time for you to get a
clue. You see, you never even bought an XBOX so how would you know
anything? If you had you would know that there were and are all kinds of
options. With that said it is clear you are nothing more than a fanboy and
a troll, and not a very good one at that. Time for you to get the clue,
fanboy.

Though I'm one of Nintendo's biggest fans I'm not necessarily looking forward
to either the new Zelda or the new Metroid. First of all the new Link is just
about the ugliest video game character I have seen in my 23 years on this
planet. Nintendo really needs to redesign this character. Thus I'm not sure
what to expect from this new Zelda.

As far as Metroid, the guy behind the absolute brilliance of Super Metroid is
now dead, and the new Metroid is being developed by a bunch of no-names in the
console industry based in the US. That's not to say they won't make a good
Metroid game, but I have no precedence on which to base my expectations of
this Metroid game. Thus, it was not really a factor in my obtaining a
GameCube.

I'm sort of looking forward to the new Mario, but the video I saw didn't fill
me with awe. And that's probably the game I'm looking forward to most out of
the three.

However at the moment there are 6 games out for the GameCube that I am
interested in, and I now own all 6 of them. Good show on Nintendo's part
releasing these games. They are:

Luigi's Mansion-underrated game. This game rocks.

Wave Race: Blue Storm-best racing game I have ever played.

Pikmin-have not opened yet.

Super Monkey Ball-Monkey Fight has to be the absolute best multiplayer game
I've played in years-and the single player is fun and challenging

Super Smash Bros. Melee-Old-school enticing 2D platforming levels

Star Wars: Rogue Leader-have not opened yet

The thing to note here (other than the fact I am an Xbox lover) is the
while MS didn't force the bundles, I believe I read that for the
vendor to sell the Xbox they had to buy a certain number of games for
every Xbox they bought, so SOME vendors decided to pass on the
inconvenience to the customer and force bundles. This should have been
no big deal to the big vendors (like Best Buy) but I heard it was
tough for the mom and pop stores, there was something like a minimum
$10,000 investment in hardware and software to be 'able' to sell the
Xbox. Sorry, I cannot site a source on this but I would guess a search
on mid-late November news would locate the article of which I speak.

Either way, I have my Xbox and 5 games and I couldn't be happier with
what I purchased. (Oddworld, Star Wars: Starfighter, Amped, SSX
Tricky, Halo).

Only a few Xbox games have been very successful...mostly due to forced

worth spending it on an Xbox, when the PS2 can give the same thing? I don't

That would only prevent the smaller outlets from selling the XBOX and
games. Even so my point still stands, no one forced the consumer to buy
the XBOX and games, they *wanted* them. Regardless of what how they were
sold, bundled or unbundled, consumers made the decision to buy. NO ONE
FORCED THEM!

What is with you idiots? How many times can it be said "THE XBOX WAS
AVAILABLE BOTH BUNDLED AND UNBUNDLED FROM THE VERY START". Regardless,
your analogy is complete crap. A car is primarily used for transportation
and is useful with or without a radio, a game console needs games to be of
