Maybe i'm just ignorant (flame on) but I just found out yesterday that the
buttons on tha controller are analog like the ps2. And they are kind of
shitty too because in DOA3 bunch of moves require you to quickly press a
combination that includes softly pressing and mashing the button in various
orders. One of my controllers seems more sensitive then the other too.

Has anyone noticed if this feature is used in other games yet?

I only have Fever for the XBox, but Madden on the PS2 and the passing is
analog. Perhaps the XBox version is the same. On the PS2, the strength of
your pass is based upon how hard you press down on the button.

Yeah, that's the same way Fever works. I wish it was pressure sensitive like
on the PS2. Adds so much to it. Everything from passes, to spins, to jukes
are all pressure sensitive. Very cool.

Yes those controllers are sweet. Well, at least I know the xbox controller
is sensitive to a degree, because in DOA3 a halfway press of the button
does a light punch, all the way does a different punch, doesn't have to do
with the length of time pressing down in this one.. But there's only the
halfway and full press differences. Maybe, just maybe it does support the
full analog range and the games don't take advantage of it yet.

Turn off the analog controls in the options menu of DOA3, and you won't have
the problem and you'll play the game the way it'll be played in the arcades
if it ever gets an arcade release: with regular digital buttons.
The analog option only serves a shortcut method for doing some moves, like
doing Hayabusa's spiraling drop (hard presses of buttons rather than doing
360 degrees motions on the D-pad), but it's hard to utilize in the heat of
battle.

It actually is how hard you press, otherwise they could pull this trick off
with digital buttons.

Thanks for the tips, actually turning on the analog sticks made it easier
to pull off where I was stuck. The screen said press left right, but, you
actually have to do a half roll including the down direction. I've come
across Several moves that require you press different combinations then what
the Training mode tells you. In fact, several of the moves that are listed
in the manual are different then the same moves in training mode. (The ones
in the manual are actually accurate.) I still hope theres full analog
range on the buttons in future games.

p.s. evertime I play the game the backgrounds and detail astound me :) I
just found the evening mode for the beach lvl, i wonder if other levels
have a second mode too!

I haven't seen the evening mode for the beach level. Did you have to do
something special to get it?

Honestly I'm not sure when it appeared. I did cheat to get ein by putting
his name when I scored (relatively low) on time trial or endurance, not sure
which. That opened Ein and the random char mode, perhaps it opend the lvl
too. When choosing the level, there is an up arrow on the beach lvl.
Check yours, its a small arrow.

I also beat the story mode so far with all the chars on normal and hard
diff, working on very hard tonight. I've only opened one extra costume
for the first character, I finished sparr mode with nearly all the chars on
the top lvl, but none of them give new costumes like the first one.

Yeah, I've unlocked the costumes and random select. Actually, I haven't
unlocked Zack's 3rd costume though. I'll check the beach level after I
finish watching Oakland spank NY. :)
