I've just seen the new yellow pokemon Gameboy game advertised. It's
subtitled "Special Pikachu Edition". Is it more or less the same as the red
and blue versions, or is it different enough to be worth getting? Just what
are the differences, exactly?

It's the same game except Pikachu follows you around, it adds characters from
the TV show, and there are certain pokemon you can't get in this version.

I'm not far enough into the game, but the locations of a lot of
Pokemon have changed, many moves and TMs have been reassigned, and
it's in colour. There are digitized Pikachu speech samples (albeit
grainy), and a few map changes (Jesse and James attack you, you're
given Bulbasaur and Charmander, etc.).

I've bought it, but if you're short on cash or not that much of a
Pokemaniac I wouldn't bother.

i got the ROM, so heres a rundown of the game.

You get Pikachu, and lemme tell you, first chance you get, dump him in the box.
He has a low hp, and is pretty crappy. However, if you want the bulbasaur, you
have to tame pikachu, then go to cerulian and talk to the girl in the house
next to the pokemon center.

To get charmander, get through nugget bridge, and talk to the man next to the
thunder wave TM.

Get squirtle after beating Lt. Surge [who has a fairly east to beat Raichu, lvl
28.

Yes, you can get an Eevee in yellow. Garys eevee evolves based on whichever
stone you buy first of the eeveeloution ones. If you dont buy one, its random.

J&J show up 3 times. Mt moon, Celdon game corner, and saffron silph building,
where they replace the guards. Surprisingly, they are not in Viridian gym

Sabrina is HARD. She has the Abra evolution set, all at level 50 ~_~

Blaine's gym is easy, because you can skip all the trainers by awnsering simple
quiz questions. Only one of them is hard, and heres the awsner: No, poliwag
does not evolve 3 times. I assume its a trick question, and the real awnser
would be Poliwag evolves once, then Poliwhirl, the Poliwrath.

Giovanni is harder now, with Nidoking/queen, persian and two others i dont
remeber.

All the other Gym leaders are pretty much the same

Garys pokemon are as follows. [i dont think this changes] Sandslash, arcannine,
one of the Eeveeloutions, Cloyster, Exxegutor, and one other.

The E4 are pretty much the same, bruno and agatha moderatly easy. Loerli is
HARDER then before. Lance is semi-easy. but his dragonite has Thunder,
blizzard, firespin and hyperbeam ~_~;;

No, it's DEF is low, it's attack and HP are fine. X.x;
You should mention he refuses to evolve, the little bugger. >_<

I thought you had to beat Surge, get Squirtle, THEN go get Bulba. c.c

O.o

*notes to give Blastoise Ice Beam over something* X.x;

I thought it was cute how, once you entered the house where you get the
Bike Voucher, Pikachu ran over to Clefairy in loving awe, with hearts
around her head and waving her paws ^^

Mmm, they have the same questions in Blue.
It evolves twice, it is a trick question, and one I always fall for because
I think "Poliwag, Poliwhirl, Poliwrath".
Not "To Poliwhirl and Poliwrath"
