they note that mascot in suit is a really nasty job.
Now the same environment is that of fursuiting.
I had thought that most fursuiters know about the heat problem and
have worked hard to overcome it.
I really would have thought that having fursuit creators and companies
would have helped the general mascot suit wearing population by now.

How true is it that the school mascot population has been helped (in
any way) by fursuit tech?
How true is it that there is fursuit tech that is better than the
general mascot population used to have?

Not sure if it counts, but the Lion of the Sun guy is working on (maybe it's finished now... can't quite remember) a cooling system for fursuits.

It is a light vest you wear that sucks air in through the back of the suit and blows it out over your chest, under your arms, and into the head. He demoed it at RCFM 2010.

I vaguely recall him saying that it was also designed to work with the heavy military outfit, so that troops wouldn't die of heat stroke.
