Do otters and other web-footed critters ever play mumbledeypeg? What else
would they do in bars instead?

Freddy,
risking bodily harm.

Isn't that game played outside throwing a knife in the ground? :/

Not usually. Both players start standing, legs spread a good distance
apart and *balancing* the knife by the tip of its blade on an
outstretched hand, attempt to stick the knife in the ground between the
opponents legs. Success means that player then has to move his foot to
the position where the knife stuck. It gets more complicated & risky as
the game progresses. Hitting the opponents foot is how you loose.

FYI

I've heard of both variations. Another involves holding one hand spread out
on a table while rapidly jabbing the knife between each space.
Drunken seagoing otters might make a mess of it. They would never miss! :)

Eeps... I think any animals with webbed fingers would not play that at all
ever. :s

I think the opponent also looses in that scenario. ie. gets a knife in their
foot. :s

Sure, but the trick is to wear sturdy footwear :)
We played a hard core version of it where you didn't balance a knife &
let it fall to earth at gravity's rate. We whipped it into the ground
between with much zeal. Hilarity and blood usually ensued.

Sounds like something my "pet" from Sweden would enjoy.
