Grin. And then there's the old pulp short story "Dreams are Sacred", by Peter Phillips, which is one of my all time favorites for it's take on the subject. -- Prrrrrrp! Kay Shapero address munged, email me at kay at following domain. http://www.kayshapero.net

There was a 1990 sci-fi movie, 'Hardware', which turned out to have been ripped off completely from a short story in the British comic '2000AD'. They ended up taking the director to court and winning, amending prints of the film to give the comic credit at the end.
Of course, it's perfectly possible for a film to be a rip-off -- The Terminator (Harlan Ellison), A Fistful of Dollars (the samurai movie Yojimbo) -- and still be great.
