a lovely photo of a fox sniffing a flower so deeply that its eyes are closed.
It's easy to infer that foxes have some sense of pleasure and joy
from such things too.

(3) The fox isn't actually hunting for bees. I had a German shepherd
when I was growing up, & that dog would occasionally go around to all
the flowers in the yard, intently sniffing them, checking for bees,
which it loved to eat. My brother took quite a few photos of this
large wolf-like animal intently sniffing blossoms.

Foxes can taste sweet. They have a varied diet from meat to fruit.

Cats are strictly meat eaters and have no sweet taste. Wolves eat
berries but so there may be a taste for the sugars.

Dogs have a varied diet which again suggest they have ancestry
with scavenger canines.

My cat likes eating things such as bread, especially when peanut butter
is involved (she once stole my PBJ off the table), and chocolate (I
would include asparagus, but that's because of the butter). It may be
unrelated, but I thought I'd add it in case someone finds it interesting.

However, she appears to have no interest in fruit. She'll want to know
what I'm eating, but after sniffing it a bit she ignores it.
