Hey and what about King Vitamin cereal - another take off of Captain Crunch!
And Quisp!
I certainly remember Freakies, Qwisp, and King Vitaman (actually, I saw a box
of King Vitaman in a grocery store recently - I didn't want to buy it because
I didn't want to know how old it was!). Also, I used to love the old
Honeycomb commercials, and the Alpha-Bits commercials.
Then there was the duo of Count Chocula and Boo-Berry!

Quisp!! My wife brought home a box of it recently, and I think I devoured it in one
sitting. Come to think of it, that was what I did back in the 70s too! She also got
me the cool Quisp watch from the offer on the box too. I wore it to work, and
nobody knew who he was. ;(

Just to show what a little marketing can do, Quisp, Quake, and Cap'n Crunch
are/were all made by Quaker using the same ingredients and recipe. Only the
shape of the cereal and the packaging were different.

Yeah, but with that kind of logic I might as well buy Captain Crunch or any
number of other cereals that tastes like Quisp did/does. If it doesn't say
"Quisp" is just isn't "Quisp".
Heh, there was also the 'Bicentennial' Freakies commercial.
<Ma Freakie> What are you doing?
<George Washington Freakie (in a John Wayne voice)> I cannot tell a lie, I
was chopping down the Freakies' tree.
<Ma Freakie> You know, if you keep telling the truth, you'll grow up to be
the father of the Freakies. BUT if you chop down that delicious tree, there
won't be any Freakies for you to be the father OF!
Then the announcer comes in.

Also in the Captain Crunch line of cereals, wasn't there a "Whale"
character that had it's own cereal? I dimmly remember it was cream or
vanilla flavoured and the inner lining was foil.
oh as an aside......um.... WTF is up with cereal prizes today?!?!?!?
sorry, I just had to get that out...
Fetus Crunch: Cherry flavored cereal shaped like parts of humans, arms, legs,
heads etc.
Atomic Bombs : Carbon Dioxide filled 1 and 2 inch pieces of chocolate colored
in Titanium and shaped like Little Boy and Fat Man. Name was later changed to
"Hiroshima Crunch" but was still a flop.
LSD Flakes: Corn Lakes coated with Lysergic Dyathelimde Acid. Came in 16 and
18 ouce size boxes. $12,000.00 a box, no one bought em.
Porn Flakes: Flakes shaped like Phallus and Breasts. Excessively large, too
large to eat..unless you were looking for a carreer. Promotional Contest: If
you can swallow one of these Phallus Crunches, call 1-631-284-9812 and ask
for John. No takers.
Disco Inferno's: Very colorful box filled with Valium, LSD, Ludes, Flakes,
thai stick and vodka shorties. Definitly for the 70's generation. Sold faster
than they could produce. unable to maintain stock on shelves. Went Bankrupt.
Pinto's: Turned into a fireball when you ate em. Too many awsuits,
discontinued.
Captain Video's: Cheap ripoff of every UHF station Friday Night monster show
cereal. Couldnt stand on its own. Discontinued.
One Hit Wonders: Every one was different but the same. Every box had
different packaging. So you only bought each one once and never got the same
thing again. Each one made money, but each one couldnt make a comeback.
Do you have "Grins and Smiles and Giggles and Laughs" too?
