Hey Glen, I just thought I'd say thanks for how
you turned around my original post and prompted
quite a nice little thread.

I was pretty depressed when I posted the original
message. After I did, I thought, "Damn, now all
I've probably done is pissed some people off."

But there you were to save the day! SuperGlen!
The light in the darkness! :-)

No, really. Thanks. Weekends are always the
toughest for me, but this one has actually been
pretty good, in no small part due to the thread
you "saved". There are some posts that I'd love
to reply to, but I just haven't had the time.

Maybe you could do the same with the execs
over at Fox? Jumpstart their creativitiy or
something? ;-)

Have a great day!

Ahmed

Thanks for saying that, Ahmed, but I thought that if I hadn't responded,
sooner or later someone else would've done.

I've always sort of felt that if we don't cause others to react to what we
say or do in one way or another, then it's as though we've never actually
been alive at all.

Of course, it would be preferable if others always reacted positively to
what we say or do, yet try as we might, we can't please all of the people
all of the time.

Playing it safe by fading into the background is the game of bureaucrats,
who care more about the security of their position than making a real
difference in this world.

(Having once worked in the Federal Government of Canada, I know whereof I
speak; I observed this daily.)

All I can say is ...

WOW.

I've never considered myself the human equivalent of an entire bottle of
Prozac (R).

Likewise; I've still got a reply to one of your posts saved in my Drafts
folder.

I've been working on a complaint to the
Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons, because a Doctor I had till last
year made me extremely ill by prescribing medications which - amongst other
serious side effects - caused me to lose 30 pounds in just a matter of
weeks.

It also turned out that he wasn't even a Specialist, as he'd represented
himself to be.

With what - a cattle prod to their AR:SEs?!

Toi aussi, mon bon ami (your French lesson for the day, to help bring up
your score to emigrate to Canada ;-))!

Given my situation, thanks for cheering *me* up, Ahmed.

Big virtual hugs, my friend.

Yeah, but *that* response might not have led
to a "good" thread.

No problem. Although I'm still waiting for a
confirmed valid e-mail addy. Unless you don't
want to give one out, and that's perfectly fine
as well.

Dang . . . you've had some serious s**t happen
to you. My sympathies. And yeah, working on
the complaint is far more important than a reply
to me!

Then that's a *NICE* weird, Ahmed ...

most folks who are sleep-deprived simply become armed and dangerous in very
short order.

Okay, $12.00, if you please (in Yankee dollars)!

Ummm . . . <rechecks his mail.com addy> . . . no. :-(

Try sending it to my new gmail account. It's @gmail.com
and my username is adwatts66.

Did you type out my other e-mail addy? A lot of people
misspell "graphic-designer". I should've picked out
something simplier, but it was unique and it fit, so I
thought it was cool at the time. D'oh!

> > Is there capital punishment in Canada?

This reminds me . . .

So I'm cashiering at Target and I get these two gals
from Canada. We are suppose to ask each customer
if they want to apply for a Target Visa card, and so I
do my job and ask "Would you like to save 10%
today by applying for a Target card?" One of the
gals replies, "No thanks. We'd rather be charged an
*extra* 20%. That's the Canadian way."

Cracked me up, but you kind of had to be there.

To see a Fox exec with a cattle prod up his AR:SE?

Have a great day, and I hope I get your next e-mail!

I'm surprised that the pharmaceuticals division of The Company hasn't found
a way to distil your mellow essence and manufacture it into a drug, Ahmed
...

Steve GERBER (creator of the "Howard The Duck" comic, and who had absolutely
nothing to do with the film of the same name) had such a scenario in
"Destroyer Duck".

The resident evil company in that book, however, was God Corporation
(GodCorp), which practised the motto, "Grab It All, Own It All, Drain It
All" with a vengeance.

Two sisters in that book were mutants, in that they produced pheromones
which caused other people to be very attracted to them.

One smelled like cherries and the other smelled like vanilla, if I recall
correctly.

GodCorp effectively enslaved both sisters so that they could use a painful
process to extract their essence and then mass market it in products such as
toys.

Most of the "Destroyer Duck" book dealt with Duke 'Destroyer' Duck, the
sisters and others literally taking up arms to rebel against GodCorp.

What makes it better is if you understand the original source of the satire
behind the characters - e.g., Booster Cogburn, based on John BYRNE, who was
a 'loyal company man' at Marvel Comics, despite the fact the company was
royally screwing over talented people like himself.

Hence, a 'booster' named BYRNE who was a 'cog' in the company machine became
a genetically-engineered assassin, whose spine would rip free from his body
upon being delivered the coup de grace, and then reproduce a clone.

In effect, GERBER was making an ingenious reference to BYRNE as being
spineless.

If you can ever find it at a comic book store which carries back issues, I'd
highly recommend reading it - it's hilarious *and* intelligent.

Some of the foregoing can be explained here:

http://www.stevegerber.com/

> And most of that 1% shows up on

Sorta like Ben 'n Jerry's then, eh?

Yuppers, we're suckers for punishment, especially when it comes to prices.

Gas has gone up to just under a $1.00 per litre here!!!

Sorry I hadn't responded earlier; I'd automatically clicked on "Mark All

already bored everyone with before.

Heard about that in another ng. Guy was complaining about
Liberal Canadian politicians and the results of electing similar
individuals in the US. But he's a "psycho". Even Canadians

Well, it's *true, though* <when said with a French-Canadian accent, it
sounds close to TRUDEAU, one of the Liberal Party dictators of Canada over
the past century> !

The fact that the Liberals are perceived as being 'progressive' on certain
issues is enough to lull the majority of people here into a false sense of
security, to the point that they've become apathetic and complacent,
thinking that the government will just automatically take care of
everything.

The Liberals have plenty of practice at sitting on the fence, talking the
talk and not walking the walk, playing both sides off against each other,
and aren't even above stabbing their own in the back.

And don't even get me started on the level of corruption and waste behind
Liberal governments in this country over the years.

To be perfectly clear in your understanding of the history of the Liberal
Party of Canada, don't ever confuse small 'l' liberal with capital 'L'
Liberal.

When I was involved with the Socialist Party here, they used to say that the
Liberals campaign on the left and then rule on the right.

Somewhat simplistic, but it would be more accurate to say that their
policies are mixed bag of rubbish, which accomplishes little in the way of
results.

> But he's a "psycho". Even Canadians
> wish he'd leave! ;-)

Is that due to disagreements on policy, implementation, or his abrasive
personality?
