SLI and heat question

Hi all, please let me post a question to this amazing group.
I just build a SLI with 2 XFX GF 9600GT. One is the XT (680 Mhz) the other
the XXX (700 Mhz), im waiting for the shop to exchange the XT for an XXX.
Anyway, the upper card (main card) is the XXX and its temps on idle are 50
Celsius. The 2nd card is staying at 40. Is this due to the normal OS use of
card 1?
In between the 2 cards is the chipset cooler and fan, it just fits, is
pretty hot, and of course video card 1 takes more hot than cool air from
there, contrary to card 2...
So, is the temp difference normal or should I do something to balance the
temps of the videocards?
