But before I do I thought I'd try one last thing.
Real has an open source client called Helix. They provide binaries for
Linux and Solaris. I am far to lazy to build it myself for Windows.
Does anyone have a pre-built Helix client for Windows?
The Helix project itself does, but only if you're willing to sign some
VERY-restrictive nondisclosure and licensing agreements.
In return, what you get is a tiny win32 test app with play and stop
buttons and little else. It's nothing like a full player and not
stable enough yet to use except for testing. Sorry. But you could
always install Linux... :)
Can't say why, but I've had trouble with my Real Alternative for the
last coupla days myself. This evening, I uninstalled it, pulled a fresh
download from http://www.k-litecodecpack.com/ and ran the install. I
tested it on a link from www.real.com <g>, and all was well.
Just tried it on www.thislife.org , and it worked fine for me. YMMV.
