not a bad deck- I've had 3 of them- problems are:

motor usually has to be replaced

response curve only rated to 14 khz high end- an Akai 80-81-82 goes
higher, so does a Pioneer, JVC, Telex, Sony- i.e. an Akai 83D has a
rolled off sounding high end

smallish DC motor, won't tolerate a tight 90 min. tape

counters on the 83D are over-engineered, most of them no longer work
correctly

rec.antiques.radio+phono is not the place for this crap. Discuss it
all you want on alt.collecting.8-track-tapes where it belongs. BTW, I
bought piles of new tapes for 3 cents each, years ago and ended up
throwing them all away.

good idea David...

The Woodstock II tape is a classic, belongs in any classic rock
collection. Also the Steppenwolf greatest hits same deal.

I found this- if you talk to the manager of a thrift store, they are
usually willing to sell their entire 8track stock for very cheap-
providing you buy all of them.

I get tapes 5/$1 all the time.

when you reply, only reply to the 8-track group- so the other groups
don't get the message also- delete the others from the "to" line

And, of course, we all know Noodles' address...even that goofy boxcar
red trim against that dirty white T-111 siding. Even SUGGEST you'll
visit "Bumler" for any reason, and off to the Butler Twp Police Dept
he goes, crotch wet from peeing himself.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS OFF-TOPIC SPAMMER AND DIRTBAG SELLER!

This spammer and eBay fraudster, Charlie Nudo of Drums, PA, aka
66fourdoor on eBay, is yet another annoying eBay spammer, as well as
an eBay cheat and crook. He's obviously under pressure now due to my
efforts, as he's sending my ISP and othe net ops messages threatening
legal action if they don't shut me up...ain't gonna happen! Don't be
beguilded by his "great feedback," either...take a look at his
attempts at extortion and his "buried" bad feedback at:

http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs?User=66fourdoor&Dirn=Received+by

Also, take a look at his retaliatory bad feedback left for others at:

http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs?User=66fourdoor&Dirn=Left+by

This guy's a proven nut case and crook. He defrauded me twice under
two different eBay account names, one having been shut down since then
for fraud.

Do Usenet a favor...turn this creep in for spam today at:

sp...@ebay.com (account 66fourdoor)
groups...@google.com (use email account he used in his spam)
ab...@epix.net (main account POP3 address thenud...@epix.net)

...and do NOT fall victim to his scam auctions!

Wow, Noodles...fraudBay sales in the tank, not much commission from
KFW sales...you must be really hard up to part with your beloved
"Sony-Baloney" speakers that you thought were so good...and that NAD
amp.

Getting hungry up there in "Bumler?"
