I guess that does not include shipping to Europe...

Hey George,
Why for you sell? Does your new system transport itself from gig to gig?
Does SLS stand for Self Levitating Speakers? ;-)
On the serious side, send me a pic or two and or give me a call soon. I
may be interested by around January.
Squeaky
P.S. I noticed the maintenance list did not include new shocks. Is that
where the ones on the minivan went? ;-)
actually the have a 2x8 /ribbon line array that is 7 inches by 22 inches by
7 inches I can fit a metric ass load of them in the space one MSL3 took up
I am down sizing into a city van(14 foot box) and will rent the big truck
when needed

JUNK!
hardly!
the odometer has turned over I did not buy it new after 10 years in NY all
vehicals must be listed as AMU (actual milage unknown) unless you can
document the actual milage
This is a strong truck that has been maintained well
I have the reciepts to prove it

A truck's price is based on condition not mileage. Pro equipment {such as
trucks} is continuously rebuildable.
Finally I don't see a problem with any regular contributor posting something
another regular might need to do a gig. Where are you when these idiots are
cross posting their Ebay auctions to many groups- many of which are
recording equipment. And none of them offer any help or input here.
This isn't a for sale group at all it is a discussion group- but again I
don't see any occasional ad from a regular as a problem.

Kind of OT, but what mic(s) did you use on George W.?
-Henry C-G
Gabe
I've always wondered this: why 2 mic's? Are they both going to the same
place? For stereo? Or maybe so when he turns his head slightly, he'll
still be heard?
Backup in case of failure or other disruption of signal.

yes taht is true one feeds the press the other the pA and at no time is any
outside contractor have control of the mics
White house communications owns the mics and has total control over when
they are on or not on
george
no they feed press and pa seperatly though they can back each other up ,
that is not the main reason for 2 mics

Anyway, that's a model that's never been sold officially over here, so it
would be a huge pain in the behind to get it immatriculated (is that the
word?)...

Pardon me, I stand corrected. You learn something new every day.

If you read the very top, there is a disclaimer about it being off-topic.
It's called a thread. Things on usenet often veer away on a tangent to
the original topic. If you really must know, George (the guy selling the
truck) is one of Dubya's sound contractors. Try reading all the posts in
a thread next time but please learn to format your posts properly first.

He doesn't write his speeches.

Having done upwards of a few hundred presidentials, I thought I'd chime
in. Depending on the event, the crew, and their trust in the PA company,
White House Communications Agency or WHCA, (commonly pronounced Wha'-ka)
Will do different set ups. IME, The most common is as follows...
mic 1 ---> WHCA __/--> WHCA record
Mixer \--> Press Mult boxes
mic 2 ---> splitter (dir) ---> WHCA Backup line
(iso) ---> PA feed
They don't care as much what goes to the PA because the S/N in the room
tends to mask accidental off-line comments like 'Yeah, that guys a major
league asshole!' It's the press mults they're truly concerned with.
That said, I've had them insist I take a feed from their Shure M267
mixer after they've run it into the limiter by 20dB and expect me to be
able to amplify it. I've also had them throw me two XLR's at the base of
the podium a.k.a. Blue Goose) then asked me for a record feed for their
cassette recorder. Every WHCA experience is new and exciting! ;-)
The thing to remember about WHCA is that they're Naval Communications
officers serving their tour of duty. They are not event production staff
or Audio Engineers with 10 to 20 years experience in live sound
reinforcement. They'll often do this for a few years then get assigned
to a nuclear sub doing radio encryption or something similar. WHCA is a
military organization. They usually function pretty well, but don't
always have the expertise to make on the spot decisions. When they don't
know, they tend to follow procedure and do what their C.O. told them to.
It can be quite the political dance to make the show go smoothly.
Ralph
The other important point is Whca has no authority to contract your services
until they produce a government CC or PO do not let them let you aassume
otherwise
I have never, never been through such a headache as trying to get paid from
the government when I made the mistake of believing Whca whenthey told me
"it in the pipe you will get you poi after the event beacuse if there are
chages it is beeter to reflect that in your orginal PO rather than to get a
change order, while I have no doubt a Change order would be like pushing
water up a sponge mountain if you do the work with out a Gov CC or PO in
hand before you do one minute of billable service then you should expect a 6
month minimum payment cycle
only beacuse I did collections for anotrher company and am quite good at it
and Only beacuse it was a job with the President did I get this down to 12
weeks!!!!!

Gov't work pays slowly and painfully. We've got PO's from July that have
not yet been paid. All things come with sweat and blood...

Slow and painful pay? You ever do any work for Livent Inc.? THAT would
have taught you more than you wanted to know about slow and painful!

interesting???? right after our MDST Gas-out at EAW... if you guys remember
I was off to do 1 of 3 (in the nation) Korean War 50th thingies for the
D.O.D. and I did have to do a bit of paperwork before I got the gig and no I
didnt have a PO in hand until after the gig for the same reasons George said
but the gig was on IIRC a Saturday and on Monday morning a chick in
purchasing called me to give me PO# and a CC# Paid right then.... I guess
they liked me????

He has lots of people to write them for him.

Those are comments he's made by himself during debates etc.

Nah, he's british...

Nope, I'm neither. I live in the UK and have no interest in politics
whatsoever. The politicians are all a bunch of scheming slimebags who
are only in it for themselves.
Phildo

Nah. You just looked like you needed the money more than we did. ;-)
Ralph
You can write one for him.......
http://www.lemonbovril.co.uk/bushspeech/
Funniest thing I've seen online for a while.
Phildo
I believe this was speaking of the amount of import goods comming from
Mexico comparred to those from China and other overseas countries...
remember Shure mics are made in Mexico as with lots of sound gear and all
sorts of other goods that we here in the states use....
and as with what I constantly tell my girlfriend after she gets pissed off
at something I said that should of not been taken as a negative comment I
have to explain that as with all things in life (and like that of an
equalizer) there is a positive ( in the words of Bush "succeed" on a EQ + )
a negative ( in the words of Bush "fail" on a EQ - ) and a neutral (which is
representated on a EQ as 0 attenuation) meaning nothing has happened in a
positive or negative direction...and in reference to Bush's comments he was
simply saying that in the case that we dont succeed we havent not just
stayed where we started but have lost/failed/gone backwards... basically
saying it is a win or loose situation... here is an analogy for ya...
Put a mixer up for sale on E-Bay it sells before the auction closes... you
win!
Put a mixer up for sale on E-Bay it doesnt sell the auction closes...
nothing has happened you still have a mixer
Some one hears you have a mixer for sale comes by your house/shop/club
writes you a Bad check and skips town... you loose!!!
...got it!!!
so before you start trying to make the guy out to be a total dumb ass think
a step further about what he is saying...
Michael
to most people that would be a funny photo... however have you ever used or
looked thru night vision binoculars????
ever done it during the day or in a bright room???? with night vision scopes
you need caps covering the lenses with a small hole in them (approx 1/64th
of an inch) to allow you to see out...
he's not stupid... your just ignorant to what is actually happening in this
photo...
Michael
actually Libertarian (almost Republican I Vote Rep for certain offices that
I know I would be throwing away a vote)
I don't think he was using the things for any purpose other than seeing what
they do... silly... why would the pres *need* to use night vision... it was
clearly a demonstration type situation.... hell for that matter the 3 times
I have looked thru those things was indoors in a well lit room that had the
same type caps on the lenses, just so I could see what they do...does that
mean I am a stupid ass????
its funny how so many people try to *dig* for stuff to "make" someone
"look" "bad"...
pessimist or optimist?????
Michael
I have to disagree with me being "way out on a limb here"
as far as his ignorance... I'm trying to recall where he has made a desicion
or taken an action that has really cost us as a nation anything??? and you
cant count anything with the military actions of the last year as this is
not over or in certain senses began.
I will skip on the Family pride thing....
and the self appointed thing what is that?????
Basically!!!
>
> Considerate or partisan?
or consider it partisan ;)
