And for whatever it's worth, the nearby residents of Brighton who are
also affected by this decision (and disagree with Berkeley) apparently
don't get to weigh in on ACA's opposition either? (But thank goodness
we live in a place where we can publicly agree to disagree.) As I
communicated directly to the Boston Licensing Board the last time
around, in my opinion this is an important opportunity to improve the
quality of life and economy of Allston for most Allston-Brighton
residents most directly affected by the Board's decision.

I stand corrected (by myself). It doesn't change my opinion that Mr.
Berkeley's comments do NOT reflect the opinion of many of us. But we
DO apparently have the ability to join ACA and vote as part of that
organization if we are so inclined and are actually able to make it to
their meetings.

I happen to disagree with Paul on Stonehearth, aIthough I think his
analysis is, as usual, correct in that they cut corners that are in
place to protect the community and should not be rewarded for doing
so. On balance, however, I agree that Stonehearth will be a welcome
addition and while I don't want to see Stonehearth rewarded for
cutting corners, I would not want to penalize the residents of that
particular section of our community, who will benefit from
Stonehearth's presence. (I say this as someone who has been to their
location in Needham several times) The trouble is, it's a slippery
slope. If we make an exception for a "good" project like Stonehearth,
how do we hold the line against the next bar that plays the same game
and will be a detriment to the neighborhood. It is that nuance that
Paul has tried to highlight, and which seems to be ignored in all the
posts supporting Stonehearth and attacking Paul.
