Hi,

After using the windows installer and logging in as admin, I got the
folowing error:
"Genshi UnicodeDecodeError error while rendering template (unknown
template location)"

I can not view any page, as it seems that the templates can't be
read...

I'm using it on a Windows XP SP3 Computer, installed at C:\Programme
\Agilo.

Any suggestions? Thanks :)

Regards, CKoenig

Hi,

Sorry - I have no Idea what might be causing this.

One quick workaround for you might be to use our virtual machine
applicance instead, that should work reliable.

As to further debug that problem, does this happen all the time, i.e.
can you not even visit the regular trac-pages (wiki pages for example)
or just for specific agilo pages (the backlog for example).

From what you write it seems more like nothing is shown, which means
that there is something seriously wrong with the whole installation.

By re-reading your post again, it seems that when you are not logged in
however everything renders fine - is this true?

When using the virtual applicance, is it possible to update to new
versions while keeping the data?

When I'm not logged in, I can view all pages normaly except for the
"Roadmap" and "Browse Source" pages (get the Genshi error there). When
I log in, I can not view any page - even pages that where available
when not logged in (e.g. Wiki, Tickets, Timeline).

Got the solution:
It's my Windows User Name. It contains an umlaut - namly the ö -
that's the cause.

Explanation:
As the error indicated, it was some kind of path problem ("unknown
template location"). So at first I checked global variables as I was
using Apache and Python a while ago, maybe something was pointing to a
wrong directory - so who knows... But that did not lead to any
positive result.

So I was looking for configuration files outside of C:\Programme
\Agilo... and found something in my user directory: C:\Dokumente und
Einstellungen\C König\Anwendungsdaten\Python-Eggs deleted it,
reinstalled Agilo - no result.
Then the temp directory - no result.

Then it came to my mind that the space in my username might be a
problem - created a user named test, logged in, startet the server -
it worked.

Two options: 1.) my user acount was kind of screwed up - 2.) the name
of the user path was responsible

Further testing: creating a user with a space: worked fine. creating a
new user with a space and an umlaut (once more an ö) - did not work. -
Conclusion: must be the umlaut... ;)

For now I use the following workaround: I'm using the planned tasks
feature from windows, and each time I start up the computer, the Agilo
run.bat is started using another accounts login data...

Of course - just copy the new egg + easy_install it as you would do with
a real machine.

thank you very much for your detailled analysis. With that I was able to
reproduce the issue :-) It's a bug inside trac and I'll send the trac
guys a patch.

Actually we found out that this problem can not be fixed unless you
introduce some big changes in Python itself -- however with the next
release you will get a big warning about the problem.
