Hi all,
Our group is trying to use api to classify keywords/placements based
on the network types. However, Iin google editor, When I choose
content network, I can choose "only on the placement I targeted" or
"entire network(something like this)". In API v13, I can use network
targeting to choose "search network" or "content network". And then, I
can use contentTargeting to choose "AllPlacements" or
"SelectedPlacements". In API 2009, the structure changed a lot. Thus,
I have two questions:
1. what does following value of networkCoverageType mean? API 2009
does not explain, especially content_contextual.
GOOGLE_SEARCH
SEARCH_NETWORK
CONTENT_NETWORK
CONTENT_CONTEXTUAL
CPA_REFERRAL
2. Where can I find "contentTargeting" in API 2009?

Thanks,

Haoyue

Hi Haoyue,

The new network targeting values aren't clearly documented yet, but
here is a quick overview.

- GOOGLE_SEARCH - Show ads on the Google search page. Equivalent to
v13 GoogleSearch.

- SEARCH_NETWORK - Show ads on search partner sites. Equivalent to
v13 SearchNetwork.

- CONTENT_NETWORK - Show ads on the content network, using only
managed placements. Equivalent to v13 ContentNetwork &
SelectedPlacements.

- CONTENT_CONTEXTUAL - Show ads on the content network, using only
automatic placements based on keywords and page/site content. No
direct equivalent, but related to v13 ContentNetwork & AllPlacements.

- CPA_REFERRAL - Show ads on the Google Affiliate Network (
http://www.google.com/ads/affiliatenetwork/advertiser/index.html ).
No v13 equivalent.

One main difference is that to have the equivalent of the v13
contentTargeting setting "AllPlacements", you need to add
CONTENT_NETWORK and CONTENT_CONTEXTUAL. CONTENT_NETWORK on it's own
is like "SelectedPlacements", while CONTENT_CONTEXTUAL on it's own
will have no effect.
