Why do I get the keywords under different attribute-names in keyword-related XML-reports ? (keyword / site / kwSite)

Hi all,
I'm retrieving XML-keyword-reports via API for several campaigns from
several customers.

In the keyword-report's docs,

(http://code.google.com/intl/de-DE/apis/adwords/docs/developer/
adwords_api_report_keyword.html#aggr_KeywordDaily)

it is stated, that you have to include the Field "Keyword", which will
result in an XML-response of either one of these fields:
keyword / site / kwSite

For all campaigns, except one, the keyword gets returned under the
"kwSite" attribute.
The other campaign returns it under "keyword".

Does anyone know, how one of these 3 types (keyword / site / kwSite)
are triggered ?

I was thinking, it might have something to do with the campaign's
networks, but another campaign, with the same network-settings, also
returns the keywords in "kwSite" attribute...

I hope my question is understandable :)

Hello,

Yes, that's been a long standing source of confusion for AdWords API
developers. I think what most developers have done is code their
applications to treat any of those three potential names as being the
same and for the most part that should work fine. But I've asked the
reports team for an explanation as to what the current logic is behind
choosing between the three possible names. I'll let you know what I
hear back.

What I've heard back from the reports team is that they recently
tried to address the mess that these multiple column names could cause
by standardizing on the "kwSite" flavors. (This change unfortunately
wasn't communicated very widely outside of the reports team, but now
that we know we'll be updating the documentation.)

They were actually surprised that you're still seeing a report that
uses "keyword" as the column name. How long ago was this report
generated? If you can reproduce it now, can you tell me what the
report job id is for the report, as well as the campaign id that
contains the keywords?

The same goes for any other developers who are seeing anything other
than "kwSite" being used in their new reports.
