I am having difficulty creating the Text Ad that works along side Ad
Parameters.

When I create the new ad with the {param1:} or {param2:} , the ads get
rejected with the error LINE_TOO_WIDE.

The finished ad (when using the ad parameter) would not be too long
(as it is only a single digit number being added in), but it appears
to be rejected because each character of the {param1:} is being
counted towards the length of the line.

I am not using any 'default values' for the parameters as the ad still
makes sense without them.

What am I doing wrong?

To answer my own question, if you do not use a default number for your
keyword Ad Parameter it assumes it will be 8 characters long. If you
do use a default then it assumes that it is the length of default
Parameter.

Hi Kevin,

I think that specifying the colon after the param, but without a
default value, is leading to the problem. The colon should only be
used if you have a default value, otherwise the param name is enough:
{param1}. That said, we recommend using default values where it makes
sense.
