Launching of Ngugi's 'Re-membering Africa'

FYI: Find attached Prof. Shivji's speech at the launch of Ngugi wa Thiong'o's book  Re-membering Africa at Nkrumah Hall, UDSM on Tuesday. The book, which cost Tsh 10,000, is still available at the East African Educational Publishers Ltd's booth at the Nkrumah Hall's grounds up to tomorrow, that is, Friday, 14 August 2009, when the 6th Pan-African Reading for All Conference comes to a close. In the book's preface you will read the following 'diagnosis': "the question of memory may not only explain what ails contemporary Africa but may also contain the seeds of communal renewal and self-confidence."
