Beta 1 of release 2.4.2 of TiddlyWiki has been posted at:
This release is mostly minor bug fixes and small enhancements, clearing the decks for release 2.5 early in 2009. As you test this releease, we welcome bug reports here or on
http://trac.tiddlywiki.org/. Please be suitably cautious about using this beta for important data.
With release 2.5 we plan to start the process of bringing jQuery to TiddlyWiki. jQuery has matured into a beautiful little JavaScript library that many web developers are finding makes them more productive at coding and debugging. It also makes a much better job of patching over the cracks of cross-browser compatibility than TiddlyWiki can manage on it's own.
The intention is to be cautious, and to take care to preserve backwards compatibility. Accordingly, with 2.5 the focus will be on merely making it possible for plugin authors to use the facilities of jQuery, and then only in subsequent releases to carefully start refactoring the existing core code to take advantage of jQuery, and hence for that code to become shorter and faster.
Release 2.4.2 was, as usual, very much a group effort, with particular thanks going to Eric Shulman, Saq Imtiaz, FND and Martin Budden.
Cheers
Jeremy
