I still don't do digital photography, but I'm planning to scan my old
collection of slides

I'd like to be able to
* tag them
* maybe end up uploading them to flickr (keeping their tags)

Is this a case of "when you are a hammer everything looks like a
nail",or a tiddlywiki could be a good tool choice?

Any recommendations/thoughts/ideas?

http://www.giffmex.org/giffr.html is a possibility to consider...

Some where I thought I saw a plugin that used something like
<<macroname path/to/photos/*.jpg>> to create a photo gallery in a
tiddler. Might also have been for mp3s, as a way to create links to
music files. But then I might have been dreaming (Reminds me, I have
to add my dream to that list)

I know the setup I'd love to see is a set up that creates a thumbnail
gallery with each thumbnail linking to a tiddler with the full size
picture in it. Might be a reason for me to learn Ruby as I don't see
it as a plugin.

:-)

The Giffr name is brilliant!

Not quite what I'm looking for, but it is giving me some interesting
ideas... Thanks!

TiddlerWithBigPicture:
/% Link to myself %/
[img[BigPicture.jpg][TiddlerWithBigPicture]]

Thumbnail:
{{narrowImage{<<tiddler TiddlerWithBigPicture>>}}}

StyleSheet:
.narrowImage img
{
width: 160px;
}

Ken, is something like this what you were thinking of?

And if instead of applying the style to the <<tiddler>> macro you
apply it to a broader section, you can easily use forEach, or
tagglytagging to easily create thumbnail galleries.

So the macro reads the folder contents?
I'd be very interested to see that!
(A quick search at TiddlyVault* didn't bring up any candidates... )

Hi everyone,

There is the ancient RolloverPlugin which lets one insert one link for
the tumbnail, and a second for an enlarged picture becoming visible
upon mouse rollover. Though didn't tried if this is still working with
TW 2.2.6
(http://www-static.cc.gatech.edu/~dellaert/dhtml/
tiddly.html#RolloverPlugin)

One option would be ShowCurrentDirectory, with which you can open a
directory and from there open the desired pic. However, this behaves
differently on Firefox and IE. While IE does shows thumbnails, Firefox
does not. However, in comparison using just the regular file explorer
I would consider much more straight forward.
(http://www.tiddlytools.com/#ShowCurrentDirectory)

Again haven tried the following: "Umibozu web album", but by its
description it seems the most appropriate:

"It is highly customizable thanks to its embedded TiddlyWiki
interface, and designed to scale to repositories of over 10000 photos.
Umibozu maps your existing photo directory structure to an online web
album. Need to add some photos ? Run Umibozu to synchronize within
seconds your public web album. Photo albums can reside on your system
or be exported to a CD or USB stick, but it is mainly designed to be
published to a web server so it can be accessed and modified online,
while you keep feeding in new batches of photos.
Umibozu is based on the excellent ImageMagik library for manipulating
images, and on the libxml2 HTML parser to modify a Tiddlywiki
interface in order to build the web album. The interface is tweaked
with quite a few plugins to make it more media orientated, and
slightly modified as well to fit my needs."

Please inform which you finaly choose and how it went.

Regards,

W.

Though to me Umibozu seem to be able to - if that wouldn't be the
case: FileLinkDropHandler is an additional plugin working in tandem
with FileDropPlugin of BradleyMeck, where one could spare oneself the
tremendous task of having to type countless picture links into the
tiddlers. Simply by droping the pics a tiddler with a link to the pic
in a custom field would be generated.

Sure. But it won't happen any time soon.

I may consider using some filesystem tagging tool instead (e.g.
http://www.tag2find.com
http://blueslugs.com/wordpress/index.php/archives/2005/07/12/tag1-delicious-style-file-tagging
); having the ability to tag from the command line looks likeif
something very powerfull... Although if itag at the file system level,
i'll also will look for some level of integration with TW tagging.
