Hi Andre

My wife partially witnessed a mugging in Cecilia Forest this morning around 8.45am.  She was walking on the middle path when a black man in a long black trench-coat came past her.  He was carrying a fairly thick wooden stick.  She had our two dogs and a pepper spray in her hand.  He eyed her (and my growling dogs and the spray) and then very nervously and edgily walked past.  Shortly thereafter she came across a lady who had said a runner had just been mugged at knife point by this guy (and apparently there was an accomplice).  My wife reported it to Kirstenbosch Ryecroft gate, but it took 15-20 mins from then before there were police and TMNP guys moving onto the mountain.

When I heard this story I immediately realised that I had seen this guy walking in Bishopscourt last night at around 11.45pm.  He was on Upper Hilwood Ave and turning up into Forest Drive.  I thought he looked odd because of his trench-coat (down to mid-shin but was somewhat distracted at the time).

Many thanks for your efforts

Hi All

This from a friend, who regularly runs in Cecelia.

More than likely not connected, but when I was running this morning, on the top road above Cecelia, Tara started growling so I looked down over the edge (it was just before the highest point) and quite far beneath me, where there is no path or not one that I know of were two black men – the one at least had a back pack.  Seemed odd, simply because they weren’t on a path and Tara’s reaction.  I am sure neither of them had trench coats though so probably not connected.  That was around 7.10am – they might well have been TMNP guys.
