PCN Personal Note from Mark

RE: This MISC message, follows a “confirmation” for this (your
receiving) email address that you have already received and is a Great
Big Thank You and nothing more!

DEAR PCN MEMBERS,

I want to personally thank you for the extra effort to register for
our google group. I am optimistic that this venue will help solve a
lot of our email distribution problems and your effort has been huge.
I would have personally added you to the group but that is not as good
and beside there are just too darn many of ya.

To some this was no big deal, yet others struggled with it for a
time.

Approximately 1/2 of our group has successfully registered and it is
greatly appreciated.

All I can say is THANK YOU. You have made the PCN much more
efficient.

TWO MISC MESSAGES FROM PCN of time importance:

1.

DLNET/ EMPLOYEE INFO / RETIREE CONNECTION
This year's open enrollment for all retirees and survivors begins late
October
October 12, 2009

The annual open enrollment period for 2010 benefits selection for all
pre-merger Delta and pre-merger Northwest & Republic Airlines’
retirees and survivors will begin on Oct. 28 and end on Nov. 17. All
retirees and survivors will enroll through Delta’s online benefits
enrollment tool called Benefits Direct. Benefits Direct is located on
DeltaNet; go to Employee Info and click on Self-Service. A tutorial
will be available beginning October 21 in order to assist those
retirees and survivors not currently familiar with the Benefits Direct
enrollment tool and the enrollment process.

The 2010 benefit options, specific to each retiree or survivor
depending on which carrier you or your spouse retired from and when
you retired, are previewed in a memo by Rob Kight, v.p.-Compensation,
Benefits & Services, that will be mailed to all retirees’ and
survivors’ homes beginning next week. The memo also details any
changes that become effective Jan. 1, including the administrators
that have been selected to administer all retiree medical, dental and
voluntary insurance options for 2010.
Premiums for retiree medical options will increase in 2010; however
increases will vary based on the medical option you elect. “By
consolidating our medical plan options with UnitedHealthcare we
realized significant administrative savings that are keeping premium
increases lower than they would have been had we selected any other
health plan administrator,” Rob said.
Please refer to the applicable 2010 Benefits Guide for additional
information about the enrollment process as well as all benefit
options available to you and your dependents.

To: Delta Retirees and Survivors eligible for the Delta Family-Care
Medical Plan
Date: October 5, 2009
Re: Open Enrollment for 2010

It’s almost time to enroll for 2010 benefits and as you prepare to
make your choices, the following
information will help you understand your options. Delta’s annual open
enrollment for retirees and
survivors will begin on October 28, and close at 11:59 p.m. Eastern
time on November 17, 2009. At this time I would like to share a few
changes with you regarding your retiree benefits.

Since the beginning of the year, we have been working hard on various
merger activities, including the consolidation of the various
processes and programs that have been separate at Delta and Northwest.
This includes a thorough review of the benefit administrators
currently in place. The consolidation to single administrators for
healthcare, dental, life insurance and other benefits allows us to use
our combined purchasing power as the premier global airline. Below are
the administrators chosen for 2010 based on the best network
availability and discounts for our combined population of employees,
retirees and survivors. This assessment considered where they live,
customer service capabilities and overall cost for the retiree/
survivor and Delta.

o Medical & Prescription Drug Benefits – UnitedHealthcare & Medco will
continue to administer Delta’s retiree medical options, including
prescription drug coverage, in 2010
o Dental – Delta Dental of Minnesota is the current dental provider
for the Northwest Dental Option; they have a very large national
network of dental providers and will therefore provide better
discounts. If you would like to find out if your dentist participates
in the Delta Dental network go to www.DeltaDental.com. Select the
“Looking for a Dentist” link and choose the Delta Dental Premier
Network
o Life & Optional Life Insurances – MetLife will continue to
administer Delta’s retiree life
insurance benefits in 2010
o Group Accident and Private Pilots Accident Insurances – The
Prudential is the current
administrator for the Northwest Group Accident Insurance and has
been selected to administer
Delta’s Group Accident and Private Pilots Accident Insurance
programs in 2010

The same benefit options will continue to be offered in 2010 to
eligible retirees and survivors; however, there are a few changes to
the

Delta-Family Care Medical Plan that I would like to share with you at
this time.

􀁸 Enhancements to the mental health & substance abuse benefits
􀁸 Increasing the office visit copay from $20 to $30
􀁸 Increasing the specialist office visit copay from $50 to $60
􀁸 Increase the pharmacy copay for Tier 3 from $50 to $60
􀁸 Increase the pharmacy copay for Tier 4 from $70 to $90
􀁸 Expanded eligibility for foster children and certain grandchildren
living in the retiree’s household
added on or after January 1, 2010

These changes equate to about a 1.7% change in value under the DFCMP,
less than the 2% per year limit the plan is permitted to have this
year under the Agreement reached between the Company and the Non-Pilot
1114 Retiree Committee during Bankruptcy.
We have been very successful at controlling the cost of retiree
premiums over the past several years. This year there will be a slight
increase of around 7% for most retiree medical options; however,
dental premiums will slightly decrease for 2010.

For Lifetime COBRA participants, there will be a COBRA premium
increase of 20% for 2010. As
indicated in my November 8, 2007 memo to Lifetime COBRA participants,
we have been gradually phasing in the increase in COBRA premiums that
otherwise would have occurred two years ago. We have been taking this
multi-year approach in order to avoid the hardship that would be
caused by such a large increase in a single year.

As a result of successful negotiations with our voluntary insurance
administrators, retiree premiums for Optional/Dependent Life Insurance
will decrease or remain flat for most retirees. Premiums will decrease
for Group Accident and Private Pilots Accident Insurances for 2010.

Just as a reminder, we continue to contribute to our company’s
conservation efforts by eliminating paper and streamlining processes
in as many areas as possible. All open enrollment processing will be
handled online again this year. Your benefit enrollment worksheets,
plan information and confirmation statements will be available online
in Benefits Direct via Employee Self Service, just as last year. You
will receive a notification by mail several weeks prior to open
enrollment advising you of the specific time frame that open
enrollment will occur and of enrollment instructions. If you do not
enroll in a specific type of benefit, you will default to the same
coverage for that benefit that you have today. If you are not
enrolled, you will default to no coverage.
With quality healthcare coverage continuing to be a topic of national
debate, it is comforting to know that Delta is able to continue to
offer you affordable retiree benefits. Thank you for your continued
support and all that you do to help Delta become the world’s premier
airline.

MISC Message RE: Medical Plan Comparison

I don’t know why comparing medical plans are so difficult. Cost,
coverage, quality, propensity for cost increases, risk of plan change
or termination (with the potential advent of a gvt option) are all to
be considered.

But before you can do that, you have to find the cotton pickin’ plan
details. Not an easy task. Should be the first thing that is on the
web page but you have to hunt and peck.

Here are the two main Delta brochures that will help you find the info
needed to compare before you make an open enrollment decision:
