We have just now received news of the passing of retired Delta pilot
Captain John Wermuth.
Born July 30, 1940, John Joseph Wermuth III was near 70 years of age
at the time of his passing July 8, 2010. I was not able to find an
obituary for Captain Wermuth, perhaps he wished services to be
private. I believe John III was born in California and was the only
child born to parents Brigadier General John Joseph Wermuth II and
Treva Lambert Wermuth. You may read more about his father’s military
career and accomplishments at http://www.arlingtoncemetery.net/jjwermuth.htm
Dick Diller writes that Captain Wermuth was a Naval Academy graduate
and is able to provide more detail to John’s aviation career...please
see Dick’s message inpart below.
John J. Wermuth III and Patricia Flynn were married in Florida in June
of 1964.
John hired on with Delta 10-17-1969.
I believe that John & Pat have four children: Christine, John
Michael, Gregory, and Fredrick.
Survived by his wife Patricia ‘Pat’ and their children, personal
condolences may be sent to the Wermuth residence at
5200 Interbay Blvd., Tampa, FL 33611-4134

John Joseph Wermuth III
Date of Birth: Tuesday July 30, 1940
Date of Death: Thursday July 08, 2010
Est. Age at death: 69 years, 11 months, 8 days

Please let us know if you have more information to share, or
corrections to advise.
Thank you,

+++++++++++++++++++++

John was hired by Delta on October 17, 1969, and was based originally
in
Chicago. He was the only Delta pilot who lived in Rockford when we
moved
There in 1973, and was a big help in getting us settled in our house,
the
Base and the city. In about mid 1975, they moved to Tampa, because
that was
Pat¹s hometown, and John flew out of Miami, Atlanta and Dallas for the
rest
Of his career.

John was a graduate of the US Naval Academy in about 1963. He was a
really
Good guy with whom we lost most of our contact after they moved to
Florida,

Dick Diller
