This should interest everyone really. Four of our best public intellectuals around a table talking about religion:

I haven't had time to watch it yet, but I will post some thoughts later.

I've watched the first part of this and what I'm really taken by is
that these four guys, or horsemen as the title of the video suggests,
are so entirely on the side of reason. All four of them have been
labelled "extremists" by the religious crowd -- especially Hitchens
and Dawkins -- but I think this video proves, absolutely, that this is
not the case. I think they answer some interesting questions,
especially: the concept of faith, whether science is in its own way a
form of religion, whether they have ever been rattled by a particular
metaphysical question, and whether religious people should be
protected from being "offended".

Great stuff.

Thanks for the link.
I'm a bit worried that Dawkins is making a bed-fellow out of Hitchens,
but they seem to co-incide on this issue at least.
Loved the discussion. listend to the lot.

I'd vote for Mary ahead of the four horses'arses telling us the
stunning news that religion is crap. Well worth posting it for a look
though Ian.

Thanks Ian - the 4 horses'arses were preaching to the long converted
in my case, but Dawkin's site has some real beauts on it. They are
proving popular with my blind mate and his circle.

Thank you for posting 'The Four Horsemen' - it was such a rounded
discussion raising many interesting issues - it would be good to see
eminent theologians sit down with 'The Four Horsemen' and reasonably
debate some of the points raised. Such discussions might allow us,
as a species, to move on to a brave new world - one which leaves
myths and fairy tales behind - or at least sees them for what they
are.

Sadly I think your optimism might be misplaced considering the effect
that a certain bunch of myths and fairt tales has had on Ms Bhutto
yesterday, and other related atrocities.
