Hi everyone,
well would like to know about BPT(business process testing) in QTP and what is it and how it is implemented and whats the use of it and why it is used and so
and moreover am new to QTP ,so would like to know how project gets started using QTP,well i know that test cases r written manually and once written ,from where Automation process start, imean do we automate all the test cases that written manually and so

everyones advice is appreciated.

It is not that every manual test case would be automated. It depends
on the feasibility of the test case. Certain test cases may need a
person to test certain parts like images are properly loaded , links
appear in required colour, their co -ordinates etc. Also mostly
regression are likely to be automated as these cases will be
tested ,release after release.

well i mean like certain test cases in the sense how we can figure it out that only certain test cases need to be automated,how do we know which test cases need to be automated and even for regression part do we need to automate all the test cases that has been bug fixed?
i mean the bugs that has been fixed again we need to retest and need to regression so all those ones need to be automated.
how exactly can we say.

Hi

Once the manual steps are clear with their validation points, automation can cover 95-98%. How we are going to identify or differentiate whether we can automate particular step or not it depends on the automation testers capability and experience. Mainly performance related like - response time for a page load, working on an object with their x,y properties are not considered to be automated. Because they are not standardized properties and requires more maintainability.
