There was and still remains an objective which prompted the owner to establish a forum for discussing the works of Martin Foss. Assuming one had read one of better yet all of his major publications and discerned an overall scheme which contained several traditional philosophical problems, there would be questions even after rereading and pondering them. Or as is customary with the writings of notable thinkers, they always generate debate about the meanings of concepts and ideas used in their texts. On page 1 of "Symbol and Metaphor in Human Experience" Mr. Foss states "Every age has it favorite solutions to its problems. These solutions may be the result of previous research, but they have passed through many brains and have been polished like an coin." Unfortunately there is little evidence that his works have "passed through many brains." At this time one cannot find critical discussions of Mr. Foss's ideas which would spark further critical responses. This was the situation which the owner found himself. Unable to find a mentor, frustration grew over the years because of the uncertainty of  understanding many of the ideas contained in his books. These books are waiting to be examined and commented on. They need to be discussed in ways that others could benefit. Hopefully, this discussion group will fulfill this objective as well as help anyone who might find themselves in a similar situation.
