No, thats not the case, at all. Regarding Mac I don't know anything.
The newest versions of Picasa, on both Windows and Linux, use the same
"Picasa.ini" files. I can remember that earlier versions on Linux used
the ".picasa.ini". However this is not the problem, which lies solely
in the lack of updating the starred pictures as I explained in the
first post. The problem exists in both directions, i.e. also the
Windows version does not update stars when they where modified in
Linux. The only workaround is to remove and subsequently re-add the
modified folder. Notice that this process doesn't modify the
Picasa.ini, it only reads it.
