Picasa on Windows and Linux do not cooperate

Most of my work is done in Linux. However sometimes I boot into
Windows and use Picasa also there. My problem is that if I star some
pictures in Windows and want to continue my work in Linux those
pictures are not starred anymore. The Picasa.ini file is written
properly but the information is not updated in Linux. The only way to
update them is to remove the folder in the folder manager, and add it
again. It is kind of annoying.
Is this intended? Could this be fixed?

As the Linux version is using an older build, it expects to find
"Picasa.ini" files rather than ".picasa.ini" -- this apparently
changed as of Windows version 71.18 (where as the newest Linux build
is 57.4402)

Simply renaming the .picasa.ini file to Picasa.ini before importing
does the job!

Sorry, you are wrong. The newest beta of Picasa for Linux also uses
Picasa.ini.

So do a little preparation:
cp ./.picasa.ini ./Picasa.ini

or for windows (syntax?)
copy Picasa.ini .picasa.ini

assuming your pwd is the ini file location.

No, thats not the case, at all. Regarding Mac I don't know anything.
The newest versions of Picasa, on both Windows and Linux, use the same
"Picasa.ini" files. I can remember that earlier versions on Linux used
the ".picasa.ini". However this is not the problem, which lies solely
in the lack of updating the starred pictures as I explained in the
first post. The problem exists in both directions, i.e. also the
Windows version does not update stars when they where modified in
Linux. The only workaround is to remove and subsequently re-add the
modified folder. Notice that this process doesn't modify the
Picasa.ini, it only reads it.
